This year the BBC decided to host a top 100 books, as voted for by the public. Way back in january we got to see several of the nominations, of which Dune was one. Today we got to see the top 88 books in this list, and I am delighted to tell you that Dune was number 39, beating the likes of the BFG, many Dickens novels and Crime and Punishment. What an achievement :D

Seeing all four Harry Potters and some Pratchetts over i.e. Of Mice And Men makes it rather *cough* lacking seriousness. But why? Winnie the Pooh is just three ranks under War And Peace and still over Wuthering Heights!

havta say, the BIG READ SUX AND THEY CAN ALL BURN IN HELL >:(. er, anyway, i have to say i wasnt to pleased that dune wasn't in the top 22, ok, so harry potter, good books, no doubt, but, when compared to Dune, HAH!, and as for NightWatch (pratchett), i was disgusted :'(. it should of been in the top 22.

are they only doing the series of programmes on the top 22 books? cos i just heard they did a whole program devoted to the catcher in the rye <and got in trouble over it but thats another story>. are we gonna have a entire programme discussing dune?

Hmm, i don't like these rankings anyway. I don't know who, but some people declared as lord of the rings to be the best series ever.... yeah right.. it was pretty good, but by far not the best that i've read so far.

and if of mice and men is so high... i definetly take this rankin into question

I didn't like the way it turned out either. Still, if Dune can't win then lets hope it's The Lord of the Rings.

I refuse to vote. It's dune or nothing at all. LOTR doesn't deserve it either IMO.

I was one of the people who voted LOTR, since Dune wasn't an option. And I'm from Scotland now. ;)

And I still just think it was garbage... the fact that Harry Potter was on it at all means to me that a bunch of nine year olds got online and lied about their age :P
