I was driving to work very early (3:30am) and was looking around. I had put on

Def Leppard with "Love bites" and my mind wondered off. Questions ran through my

mind and wondered what you guys think about some things.

1) IF God created everything, what would have been his expectations ?

(don't start another religion discussion, just state your opinion).

2) Were we meant to technologically advance this far, or further ?

3) Why is it that people need to hate ?

4) Why can't we all be happy with what we have and think about those who have nothing ?

5) Why is it that the rich can't share their wealth with those in need ?

6) Why is it that lotteries (?) have only huge prizes ? Why not change the prize money

of millions in al small parts of 1 million ? Wouldn't that provide more chance to win ?

7) Are we looked at from another star ?

8 ) If we're not alone in the universe and another species is far more advanced, how come

they haven't showed themselves ?

9) What's the purpose of our lives ? I mean, we're born, go to school, work and die.

If not more, that takes up 80% of our lifes. Why ?

10) Assuming not destroyed by war, will Earth still be here in a 1000 years ?

Because people will thank: WOW! 8 million bucks, i HAVE to buy a ticket, instead of: hmm... $1000 bucks, i'd be better off buying a ticket that gives me a chance to win the 8 million dollar prize!

No.

they haven't showed themselves ?

Because their technology is not advanced enough to travel very long distances, or they just haven't found us yet. :P

To ensure the survival of the human species! (dramatic, huh? :D)

If we don't want the human race to go extinct, yes.

5.5 billion years is a long time for us to make a plan and move to a different planet. :P

He would have thought the same as when a kid sets up a city with his/her LEGO figures, and actually get them to move by themselves. And plays with it :-)

Well, nothing would be better to see your 'children' grow up and better themselves, technically and socially (Unfortunately we see to less of that)

It's the nature of men. They are jealous and can't resist change. Jealously is part of being jealous that someone has more power then you. And fear for change is because they fear their power may lessen. So it is all about might...

Like above, people who are satisfied with their power, don't want to endanger it by letting other people rise.

It seems that most people think that having a chance of 1 to million for 10 million is better then having a chance 1 of 10,000 to win 100,000. It's all about illusion people create for themselves.

My guess is that somewhere another specie is watching the stars, and is wondering if someone is watching them :-)

Maybe they don't want to disturb us/ They can't reach us because they are not advanced enough/ They prefer to investigate us without interference.

Most likely the second option.

Fun. Just live, and make some fun of life, and die. There is no meaning of life, but we can give a meaning to our own lifes.

War can never destroy an entire planet. We may devestate the entire ecology, but that is all. The earth is already here for some billion years, so why not a few 'seconds' more?

Many peoples tried to colonize other continents (although they weren't empty) So why won't it happen with planets. It will only take some time (some = much, actually)

There are already planets found which have water and oxygen on them. But if you mean planets with vegetation and other life, well... there are more planets out in the galaxy then I can put as a number in this post, so why no other Earth-like planet?

Well, first Earth will vanish, and then the red giant, our sun, will vanish after some other billions of years.

But Earth will exist some billion years more from now. So we will be either dead, or spread out through the near Solar Systems.

1) Expectations are a thing of time. It's what we think about, or better, what we want of future. And time, with all his functions, was created by God as well.

2) Technology is one of many factors improving. I think we overvalue it.

3) People don't need to hate. They hate because of their needs... :-

4) Typical human characteristic: we want to create, discover, control...all is just a lust.

5) Not so true, we have charities, large welfare system etc.. But don't share money, share wisdom and tools.

9) School and work are one things which give you survival for specified time. Some people can put their true sense to work, but if you can't find it elsewhere, there is never enough good on Earth.

yes, i think people have a god given drive to create and discover, certainly i think creation is one of the most irrational things in existence and i cant explain why we have it. thats kinda off topic tho.

life is hard, for most routine is what helps us survive. apart from that, i believe bringing god into the the equation helps me understand that whole deal a little better. ill leave that at that tho....

yes, because i believe that god is the one who is going to rip this earth in two <read revelation in the bible, it rocks> and that god is going to be the one who decides when the world is going to end and not humans. altho maybe revelation is a metaphor for a nuclear holocaust tho. im not usually one to take things so literally hmmm.....so whenever that may be i dont know and HOW did i turn this into another religious answer? meh im tired....

yes, just as we reached other continents as someone said. having said that the distance between the nearest star and us and the distance between europe and america is considerably different so it will a proportionally greater amount of time...

actually 2 billion years before thats meant to happen our galaxy is going to hit the andromeda galaxy. dont think we should be around in either galaxy while that happens. so unless we can invent foldspacing within 3 billion years, we're screwed. BUT 3 billion years is an insanely long time and we're a very intelligent species so unless judgement day hasnt happened yet, then yes i believe we will be well clear of earth by the time anything annihilatory happens.

We were not meant to get this far advanced, because consistency requires that he wouldn't want us to be able to find out what really happened, for he is a jealous, wanting-everyone-to-believe-him, god.

Greed helps us survive, or what we think means survival.

Making the prize bigger means more people will buy a ticket to try and win, and thus making the prize bigger and thus making the demand higher, and goes on and on until somebody wins. It's proven that more people buy tickets the higher the prize becomes. It's also a good thing, because of what the lottery does with a good portion of the money, like our Florida lottery gives a good portion to our education system.

Well, we're just another light in the sky, so perhaps for a while. Whether an alien species is monitoring us to see if we become dangerous to their survival or not is imaginatively intriguing.

What if they are at another planet abducting their cows? We're just one light in the sky, so they might never find our planet. It's a big place out there...

There is no god-given purpose, only what we make ourselves.

Some of us have high aspirations, some of us just want to live simple.

I don't see why not, but it won't be anytime soon. Even if we develop a mobile cryo unit integrated into a colony ship, time still passes by no matter how much is passed by under cryostasis.

Rather unlikely. Our planet was formed due to specific transformations by certain organisms, so anything can happen with other organisms that may have formed on other planets.

Well, seeing as that will be a couple billion years, if we haven't ventured out by then, we don't deserve to live.

In the Old Testament and thoughout history. you'l find that people that have the most tend to be the most evil and greedy. I think its because they get lazy. They have it made and feel like they have no obligations.

Some have. But heres a few reasons. its partly how they got rich... And its money itself. Because its the root of all evil.
