2.whats the diffrence between Geforce4 MX 440 and Geforce4 ti4000? and which is better?

hmm, i don't know the geforce ti4000, i have a ti4200 myself, but the ti4000 should be a later version. But considering the power of the Geforce 4 mx440, i'd say the ti4000 would be better.

FPS totally differ per game. Perhaps in quake 3 you'll have 150 fps, and in generals only 30

i really dont understand this stuff about the fps.. in Half Life 2 it is told that itll be 70 fps or something i dunno.. so i thought id ask how do i check my video card max fps..

well it depends on how well your computer can handle that game. You see, it's not just the graphics card that has to do with Frames Per Second, also the rest of your computer interferes in this. The faster your computer/video card is, the higher your frames per second will be.

Yeah, i'm sure your computer can handle it. You have a good system, though your graphics card is not the best, it will be sufficient to play half life 2 quite decently.

The big difference between the MX versions and other GeForce 4 cards, is that the MX version is a downgraded "normal" GeForce 4 version. IMO it's better to avoid the MX versions..

Could be that it was meant as an "normal" Geforce 4 card, but failed tests. Same is also done with Intel processors. Let's say one is meant to be 3.0Ghz, but it tests at 2.9Ghz, the it's going to be sold as an 2.8Ghz..

In fact, a geforce 4 mx, is not realy a Geforce 4, but more a revised Geforce 2 MX. It uses somewhat newer technology, more and faster memory, but does not even come close to the real Geforce 4's.

fps (frames per second, I prefer to abbreviate it with f/s) is more depending on the game. A frame is a small moment of time in a game. In a frame all objects are moved a little bit, and when you play all those frames after each other you will see the moving. It is just like a cartoon movie.

And it depends on the game how many frames are processed per second. However, your videocard has to do with it, because when it is too slow, it will not show all the frames on time, and you will see that everything runs slower and more choppy. But if you have a good card (like yours) then you won't have that in most games.

so i do have a good video card? i just called my local computer store and i asked how much will it cost to switch from MX to ti4200 and they said that it will be 112$ more.. god, i dont have the money to pay for it and my parants wont agree to buy me another one.. all im asking is how much fps can my vid card take, and will my video card be good for half life 2?

No one is able to tell you how much FPS your card can take. It's simply impossible as it's not only determined by your video card (CPU, RAM, state of your harddrives, ect, ect). It also depends what game you want to play (is it just half life that you're concerned about?). For example, if you would play Serious sam, you wouldn't have any problem playing it. Generals on the other hand might give you more trouble...

Look at the specs for half life 2. I'm not sure what the specs are.

and normally, if you have 30 frames per second, there's not much to worry about.

half life 2 have 70 fps :- acording to hl2 specs, my system will run it fine.. but only the video card might be the problem.. tho my parents told me that they will switch to ti4200 after we go back from spain.. (we go there in a week) so theres nothing to worry about.. for now.

Have 70fps as in what/when/how/whio/where ? No game company will be able to determine the FPS a game will have on any video card.

No, it's impossible for Sierra to guess what fps rate you will get.

It varies very much from computer to computer depending on all the components.
