FilePlanet seems to be the worst usurper of author rights ever. For any freeware, they make a queing server, which makes you waiting for one 30 kB file about ten minutes. Other way - pay 30 dollars for "high speed", better said, place 1 in the queue! These guys are trying to get rich on others work, no matter they have nothing with it, just providing software. This is hyenism!

They provide free bandwidth which you must wait in a queue for or they offer instantaneous high bandwidth for a price. If you do a lot of downloading off fileplanet and you want fast service you should pay for it. I very rarely use fileplanet, but I have no problem waiting for something that I am getting for free. I honestly don't know how they make any money because I can't see paying for something that is free just to get it quicker.

I agree with Number6.

Be grateful for every free service on the internet.

Servers and bandwidth cost a fortune, and should not be taken for granted.

I don't like FilePlanet too. They pretend that they host alot of files, so small sites can put their downloads there. But then you have indeed wait hours for that download.

And I agree that making profit out of other people's work is very lame. This is just another business which sees the internet as a money-tree.

All big download sites should be closed. And the downloads should go to smaller and more specefic sites (like you can download here all of Emperor etc.)

Well some of the Game demos for games are only released to Fileplanet and that's when I have used it. I think mods should be hosted on fan sites like you say and not put on Fileplanet. I think the authors are more to blame for that than fileplanet though.

When you want to download stuff with a reliable speed, and with the certainty there is nothing else you download with the file, you shouldn't use KaZaa (lite too, and all the other sharing download programs)

That is what I mean also. Then you must use FilePlanet for getting demo's. While it should be located at the author's site. Or at a specefic site for game demo's

Gamespot has certainly gotten alot better and seems to be coming back from its "members only" junk now you can create a free basic account and the demos are free and fast to download, its really fast I got a demo 256mbs in half an hour, thats pretty amazing even if you use a download manager.

''you shouldn't use KaZaa ''

I use lite sometimes, whats wrong with it?

I am not sure about this either. There are some legitimate uses for Kazaa. I have shared files, that are not copyrighted, with friends on Kazaa. I think the majority of users on Kazaa are misusing the tool though.

Its still the same amount of spyware. :D

Ug no it isn't, there are 1 or 2 virii spreaded on kazaa lite. Red Code virus and GATOR Spyware.

Kazaa? That would be a suicide, not only it's full of viri, it's also being monitored. I like things without documenting, altough I doubt there is something really private.

Bah, fileplanet is real junk. First of all, it is not their own work, but other peoples. So, okay, I have to wait 60 minutes for a file called "unrealpatch266.zip"? Okay, the file's real name is something else, but it makes you wonder. How many people downloads a patch for a game that is over 5 years old? How many people are downloading the Duke Nukem 3D demo?

I also hate all their "subscribers only" demos. They're irritating.

Not only this. The whole gamespy network is screwed. Hey, you have to pay if you don't want ads, isn't that wonderful? Shouldn't we all pay to get rid of things we didn't want in the first place? I mean, the news doesn't send you ads or commercials that something has happened around the world, so why do gamespy do this? If you are interested, then go to a site where they post new games and game-news etc.

If you know how a virus works then you can use programs like kazaa.
