i'm thinking of writing some fan fiction because i have a really awesome idea for a Dune story......now i just need alot of info on Ix,  some info on 'em please?

Ix is the 9th planet of the Alkaurops star system (It was named Ix after the Roman numeral 9).  In the prequels, it is ruled by House Vernius.  They were relatively unaffected by the Butlerian Jihad, and so they became the technological centre of the universe.  The planet itself looks like an uninhabited world, because the cities are located far underground.

do you know how they escaped the bultarien jihad? or whateva it's called?

They dident escape the Jihad that efected all humans. But they are loose on many of the tec rules implaced after the Jihad. They are also Allies with the house of atreides.

in the back of the Dune book...it has word meanings...it sais IX- see rachel-then it goes on to say that they avoided or somethin' like that, escaped? the jihad

In the DE, the Jihad was started by Jehanne Butler, a Koman (Komos = pre-jihad name of Ix), after her unborn daughter was aborted by the hospital administrator - a Thinking Machine.  Her daughter was supposedly to be the mother of an earlier Kwisatz Haderach, but I don't know how that can be, since it says in Dune that the BG were formed after the Jihad.

Yes, perhaps, but in the DE, they specifically say Butler was a BG sister.  It also says the BG were around since Mesopotamian times, ~5000BC.

About the Butlerian Jihad and De.  THe DUne Encyclopedia will not be used to write prequels (to the prequels) if you check the official webpage.

I know that.  Frank Herbert wrote that in the DE foreward.  I'm simply saying that this is all we have so far, and I thought I'd mention it.

Our time (2002AD) is roughly 14,000BG according to the timeline (fairly easy to find online), IIRC.

5000 BC would then be the currect BG date minus 7000, which means

14000 BG - 7000 = 7000 BG.

Still don't see where you get those other dates...

BC and BG dates increase as you go farther back in time.

Ok, I get it now. And of course I know BC dates increase the further back in time you go, I just didn't know BG dates did the same.

Heh that's pretty funny, you mention the diaspora occuring in about 100 years and that's about the time scientists have estimated an antimatter engine would be practical.

I thought only 2 grams of it even existed on earth...

Mahdi:  In the article, it says that Scientists can synthesise tiny amounts of it, although not nearly enough to power a spacecraft.
