Are the US governt by a religious fanatic?

I read in a danish news paper (NOT a very serious one though) that Bush has problems with the religious right wing. The problem was that the gay community want's more rights and that the right wing wont allow it is it strives against the bible?

I find this rather disturbing.

but what is the reason for this? what about interracial marriages. Who are we to decide who people should love.

It's an old a close minded view.

Isn't this a US-religious topic, not a gay marriage one? It was only an example. For someone who complains so much about your own threads going off-topic you're being rather hypocritical Nav.

Bush's government seems to be far more based in the world of large companies and money than religion. They just use it as a convenient shield when things go wrong or to pacify citizens who believe that religion should be treated differently than it is now. In this case the latter option. The government isn't allowing the marriages to take place, not because they are all religious, but because they know that a very large percentage of their voters are religious. Give the voters what they want, and you stay in power longer and your companies make more profit.

No one does. They can love as much as they want to, but people don't like it to be official.

Yes America is a country catholic fanatic! Under excuse that God blesses them, they allow to (do) the war to everything go, to laugh and to offend foreign countries because it is heretics, and because these obstacles do not deserve the paradise! That God blesses GI who are massacred! But they say that God is of the highly-rated of America! Is God thus a coward who supports the strongest, and who attacks the weakest ?

Yes, America is a country of religious fanatics who forbids the IVG, and who advocates the voilence against French and Germans (for the moment)... Fortunately, it is only the government! Deeply the "democratic"

Catholic fanatic? Bush is a Methodist last I checked, which means he most likely hates Catholicism. And yes, he is a fanatic. Look at things he has said"

1) He thinks God "chose" him to become the President during this time period.

2) He thinks God supports any war he wages against [heathen] Muslim nations.

3) He never fails to mention God in a speech.

4) He uses his religious views when deciding his opinion on things such as gay marriage.

And You forget to mention Ashcroft being a fanatic. He annoits himself with Crisco before any major project so God will bless it.

Bush's father thinks athiests are no patriots, and should not be citizens. That's bad enough.

Bush Jr thinks Pagans shouldn't be in the military.

If the know something about neopagans, you may know that most cults teach so large personal freedom, that no neopagan would even join the army. But about the main point, Danes have no faith, so when they see some ruler, which believes in God, they instantly call him a fanatic.

Caid, I never claimed I have no faith, I believe myself. However mixing politics and religion saying that you are president of divine right and that your wars are justified by the lord himself. That's fanatism in my eyes.

It's hipocrisy. "In god we trust" - Actions have more weight than words, considering the policy of Bush i really really doubt that it's divinely inspired.

Your government shows the thinking of majority of nation. Also "believing in myself" can't be called religiosity. If you fear that Bush plays with something, with what he shouldn't, don't you think it is because of your own fear of of that something?

Other thing is the fact USA are now at war with much more zealful enemy. Bush must try to make himself as religious, he plays on bigger ground than Denmark. Compare arab nations and USA.

Caid, the fact that Bush playes on bigger ground doesn't change the fact he is starting to sound like a religious fanatic, and those people are dangerous. How the hell can he claim he was set in the white house by god, and god justifies his campaigns? Do he have a direct line to the man above?

Most likely he has a screw loose in his litle head, but that's just my opinion. He can stuff his buddy buddy connection with the lord up where the sun don't shine.

How the hell you can talk about abusing God's intentions if you don't know about Him enough? "In God we trust" defines american soul, jumping to risky business altough the main cause seems to be ad maiorem Deus gloriam. That's why they made a democracy on whole continent in five years, instead of unwieldy "illuminated" antitheistic Europe's 200.

How the *hell* can you talk about my knowledge of god and his intention? But let me guess, because im disagreeing with the policy of "his majesty in god's service" Bush i can't possibly know god...

Yeah you're so right, it defines american soul perfectly. They start a war and trust that god will bless it. God's will is perfectly in harmony with their actions - in the american point of view.

That's a little bit too monochrome, what you're saying: American: the perfect good democracy - Europe: The self-righteous arrogant Nation of Antitheists...

I am saying about Europe, which call itself illuminated: Rumsfeld calls it old.

But you've misunderstood me. Americans care less about hard platform, they are more for adventures. That's why their economy is less balanced, but can be much more productive than western european. They do anything: and sometimes they have so few things on their back, that they can trust only God...
