1) No Ship- Invisible ship armed to the teeth...imagine the havoc. Imagine the power..White House, what White House? And why do you keep referring to a North Korea, there is no nation called North Korea.

2) Ornithopter- Flying around would be cool, outrunning anything.

3) Shield- Go ahead, use those pathetic AK-47s on me.

4) Lasgun- Laser...blast stuff.

5) Chairdog- Comfort and form fitting.

6) Dicatel- I write chapters in my head before typing a word, this would be a time saver.

That and lasguns, suspensor-belts, ornithopters, foldspace engines, pain amplifiers, dicatel...

Note I stuck to technologies; if I had branched out the list would be far longer...

Actually, I just want Wallach IX.

The planet and all inhabitants.

Period.

Other than that, some Spice would be nice, a few heart plugs, an Ixian Probe to use on all my best friends and... Oh yeah! An Irulan ghola! :D

Man it would be hard to choose just one coolist tech. I would love to have a fold space generator. It would be so cool to just transport mayself to anywere I want. To fly an orny would be so cool also. But finding out what spice tasts like would be a dream that came true. ;D

the whole holtzman effect thang... lol thats frank herberts excuse for everything weird in those books.

kinda like in the simpsons where there was that xena:warrior princess convention and the producers blamed all the crappy editing and mistakes in the series on wizards.

'um, yes just one question, in episode 37.B, scene 4 xena was shone to be wearing a warriors atire, yet in the very next scene, mere minutes later she was shown to be wearing a completly diff....

I would say me and vanguard are the biggest simpson freaks here. I can safely speak for vanguard in saying that we absolve you of your mistakes. ;) lol jk man :)

What do you mean, Dozy? the only things explained with Holtzman fields are suspensors, shields, and space-folding. When you think about it, these technologies are not totally different. Both shields and suspensors are based on the idea of repelling objects from it - whether it's repelling the ground from a glowglobe, or a bullet from a shielded soldier. It's not surprising that both technologies spring from the same basic principles. I would guess spacefolding to be a similar process, just much more complex.

this doesnt have anything to do with dune, but i recall a short story i read by frank herbert, i dont remember what it was called but i think it was about a war in Iceland, both armies depended on radar outposts, there was a guy in an outpost who though up of some device that could blow up anything combustible like gasoline and gun powder, including atomics from a long distance without knowing it was there, towards the end i think some military guy gave the inventor a book, i also forgot the title of that book but it said something about old methods..something about treachery.. medieval, what im getting to is that the new technology discovered changed everything about warefare, there wouldnt be anymore vehicles or guns of any kind, (this wasnt year 2 gazilion so they didnt have lasguns) kindof like dune and the holtzman shield.

Vanguard is right. All of those technologies use Holtzmen waves. They are just used in various ways. in the DE it explains that there are three dimensions to the waves. The first was faster than light communication, the second was defensive shields, and the third was foldspace technology. Suspensors were around before all of this, people used holtzmen waves for things, but never understood what it was until ibrahim did all of the figures for it.

Also, it was all a new technology. This new source created a stalemate in warfare. Just like our nuclear weapons did when other counteries like russia got them as well. We couldnt use them because of retaliation and the like. Same thing in the dune universe with projectile weapons and las guns. Shields gained more popularity than using projectile weapons, and soon all armies used defensive shields. a stalemate of tactics. People had to revert to a primitive conventional style of fighting.

also, when lasers hit shields, both gun and sheild are supposed to explode, which adds another convenient level to the books....

also, u know too much about dune ;)
