In a few days I will order Children of Dune mini series from Amazon.com on DVD.

Will I be the first to buy it here, or has anyone else also bought it?

(btw. do you think it will be possible to have norwegian subtitles when it comes from amazon.com?)

Yes, Europeans can order at Amazon. But I think it will be shipped literally, so it can take some weeks.

That was what happened with me then (Dune Encyclopedia that was)

I think it will work, because I play it on a computer connected to the tv. there aren't regions on computers, right?

so it will take weeks...that's too bad. I can't order from Uk either cos they don't got the other movie, left behind which I want. :(

Hard luck emperor harkonnen, I think there is limits on regions on computers too. And I think you can't mess with it too often before it freezes and you can't change regions anymore. I seem remember being asked many times this year by my classmates to see if I could unjam a few stubborn DVD drives.

Like a gom jabbar - the alternative is utter destruction (well who wouldn't like having their DVD drive rendered useless when it can only read foreign discs?)

Well, it doesn't have to take weeks. But with me it did. Otherwise I would had to arrange some things with US air freight (or something like that) and that would be very expensive

are you referring to the first person to buy it off of Amazon?

I bought it at local Future Shop.

I will be buying Special edition also when it comes out even though I bought regular version. (unless it comes out very soon)

no you are not because I talked to another guy and he said that you just need a program which can run movies from other regions and then it'll work. but thanks for saying it anyway, cus shipping cost like 56$, and that's way too much. so I cancelled it.

Sorry, Emperor Harkonnen, I didn't know you could override the settings with programs.

If you don't have that though, I think there is a limit to what you can do.

Think that is all it is though, a setting, so it can be overcome. Probably just a device to help the corporations and not us.

Not entirely, but you shouldn't have a problem. What you can do is, check your VCR/DVD Player for marks indicating their type. Norway and the UK use one of the same players, but not the other... if I recacll correctly that is. But I'm sure you'll be fine.
