The skys flashed and the craft shook as it began the decent down from hyperspace. "Ok, and we are coming out of hyperspace in 3...2...1...mark." On the last word of the captains, the crafts shook violently as they slowed down from flying at reletavistic speeds, to flying at a very fast sub-light speed. Both Numenorian scout craft slowed down at the same time, and as both captains muttered: "Holy Shit!" The scouts had accidentally dropped right into the middle of a battle! While their sensors told them that they were indeed near KYA, they had stopped right on the outset of a great asteroid field. In front of them, many craft bearing laser weapons were streaming out from behind the asteroids, while behind them, an even larger fleet blasted back towards the asteroids with high powered weapons. "Turn around, get oukt of here!!" Scout one shouted, "I'll cover your escape!" At this command, Scout 2 exucuted a quick spin, and punched in the hyperspace engines, rocketing him away from the battle. "Good, he is gone, now I can make my escape." Scout one said, but as he dropped into his spin, he was hit with a stray laser bolt. "SHIT!" He exclaimed, while looking around. After a min of searching, he determined that he still had a little bit of power, but not enough to power his engines. As he sat pondering what to do, his craft started leaking. After checking his insturments again, he noted that his life support system was leaking, and he would be out of air in about 30 min, 60 if he was lucky. Realizing he had no other choice, he got on his radio: "Mayday mayday, this is Numenorian scout number 214. I have been hit by crossfire, requesting assistance." Realising that this message might not be enough, and needing added incentive to get rescued, he decided to take a risk: Repeat, this is Numenorian Scout 214, piloted by the High Prince of Numenor, Aromon, requesting assistance." He knew that many people would just as soon kill a prince as save one, or that if he was saved there was a chance that he would be held hostage, as royal blood so often is, but it was a chance he was willing to take.... (Prince Aroman dies from asphyxiation in the center of the KYA battle in 2 posts, if no one saves, kills, or captures him before then)

But what has meaning, when you get right down to it?

Well, actually, I like to take it one step further than that: Weather or not the universe is finite or infinite is irrelevent, considering the fact that we cannot even prove that the universe exists at all. Think about it, how do we know that we are not all just some guys wet dream? Honostly, we don't.

The doors of the Silver Hall were thrown open, as a messanger ran down the hall. Panting, he slid to a halt in front of the Silver Thrown, and half bowing to the king, he began his message. "Your honor, we have just recieved an intercepted message, it seems that the empire known as "KYA" is under attack by unknown forces. Several other planetary governments are mobilizing for war. That galaxy is about to explode, your highness." The King Aromir sat back in his thrown, with a thoughtful look on his kingly face. "Dispatch my scouts, I want 3 scouts to to go to this "KYA" and see what is happeneing. I want 2 more squads to take up post on the outer edge of the Agmar belt, to alert us of any incoming ships. Remember, we have no allies right now, and most people dont even know we exist." (Scouts will reach KYA in 2 posts, return in 4.)

Faction: Numenor Planet number 1: Haldir Haldir is a huge rocky planet extremely rich in reasorces. Not many people live there except for permentent mining outposts. Haldir used to be a very gasseous planet, with the few spots of solid land having large mineral deposits, but after an asteroid hit the planet, the impact and the heat created fused the planet into one big solid mineral ball Planet number 2: Eol Technically, Eol is itself actually just a moon of Haldir. The heat from the asteroid impact on Haldir created oxygen in its stead, giving opportunity for life to arise on the planet. The Numenorian Empire consists of 2 asteroid fields, both of which are mostly just debris from 2 huge asteroids colliding. The first asteroid field is called the Agmar Field, and is made mostly of chunks of ice, which spin and fly erratically in all directions. These chunks are barly held in check by Haldirs gravity well, but they do happen to make a great natural minefield to incoming enemy forces, as only the Numenorians and their allies know the safe paths through. The Second asteroid belt is debris from the planet itself. They are much heavier and much closer to the planet than the Agmar field. Since the inner asteroid field is much more stable than the outer, the Numenorians have put gun emplacments and outpost stations on these asteroids. These provide a great defence, because the Numenorians can shoot at incoming enemies while the enemies are trying to dodge asteroids. The Numenorian empire was founded durring humanities fight with the Aliens. A large military envoy was trying to outrun an alien fleet that was chasing them, and they flew into the Asteroid field for cover, and amazingly, found their way all the way through to the planets within. Their ships engines were destroyed on impact, but most of the people survived. They spent years fixing up their ships, and using the reasorces of the planets to add to their weaponry, but by the time they were ready to leave again, their outposts heard news of the quazi human victory, and the faction fighting that ensued, so they just stayed hidden on their planet, building up a military force. They have just recently started to make foreys into the rest of the galaxy to interact with other peoples, and see what would happen. The Numenorian military is very big, as they have not been fighting against the rest of humanity like everyone else. Also, because they have to get through 2 asteroid fields to get anywhere, their ships are some of the most manuverable in the galaxy, although they have very few large ships. Their weapons and ships are all very high tech, since there have been no wars to shut down RnD, but most of the military is not great at fighting yet, as they have no real practice at it.

"Sir, Havas has just reported in, they are finished with the completion of all 1200 stealth bombers. They have also largly finished completion on the orbiting shipyard, so we can start the building of capital ships" "This is wonderful!" The Premier exclaimed. Now we can start to build a fleet worthy of the name. "I want you to put in more orders for battleships. I want 4 more battleships, ASAP. I also want you to start a major recruiting scheme, as I want another 2,000,000 men in our military as soon as they can be competently trained." Naroq's advisor just sat and stared... "FOUR battleships and 2 MILLION men, sir. That will push our economy to the edge, if not over. I am not sure that we can do that much. Even if we were in dire need of those forces, I am not sure that we could handle that kind of a bill, and we are not in that kind of a situation yet." "Damnit dont countrmand me!!" Naroq stood up and screamed. "I rule Galrond. I do, and no one else. I decide what we need, what we dont need, and when we will need it. Now can you make me my ships!?" Cowering in fear, as he had never seen his premier with this kind of a mood on him, he spoke: "Yes sir, I will send the messages right now. I still feel it only fair to tell you that we may not be able to survive an economic collapse on this kind of scale right now if this plan goes arwy." "Your oposition has been duly noted." The premeir replied with a sneer. Battleship build time: 40 posts(10 per ship) Army build time: 50 posts for full two million, 25 posts for 1 million, 10 posts for 500,000 (IF everything goes well!)

I agree that it is kind of dumb for a teacher to promise to make you more liberal in the class. I have no problem with teachers doing "what if" scenarios, as long as they emphisize that the "what ifs" didnt happen. Having students think about what if situations can often make them think more, and make them learn more about the topic, but that only works if they know what REALLY happened as well. And as far as Germany attacking the USSR, I dont think his mistake was in the time of the year he attacked, as it was the point in time durring the war. He should have waited until Britain was defeated, and not declared war on America, then he could have focused his energies on one front at a time, instead of splitting his forces.

Galafang slowly stalked around the forests. There had been a rumor spreading among the elvish clans recently about a great beast who was hunting in these woods. Whatever it was had the entire coastline shaking in fear, as no one who had been sent to capture the creature had yet returned. Only the warrior Shdoriu had been found, and he was found in 3 seperate peices, eacht a half mile away from the other. No one had been able to bring this bastard down yet. But thats because Galafang had not tried his hand yet. As he crept around a rock outcroping, he heard the distinct sound of footsteps on the ground on the other side of the wall. Readying himself for combat, he drew his swords from beneath his cloak and lept around the corner...

Ok, similerly to how I listed out the ships that are used, I think that we should decide what kind of weapons things have. I figure something like this: Lasers: light energy weapons, used mostly as cannons on fighters. Fairly short range and low powered, with a high rate of fire. small missiles: used on fighters and other smaller ships as light explosive weapons. fast and manuverable, not terribly strong, but can be launched in large salvos from gunships/corvettes/frigettes plasma cannons: larger energy weapons, used on corvettes, frigettes, etc. Often battleships and cruisers will have a small complement of plasma cannons as well. Slower firing than lasers, they hold much more of a punch. missiles: Used by larger ships, sometimes put onto corvette sized ships. Pretty much a cruise missile. not manuverable, they do not track fast moving craft, but instead target capital ships. They have a long range and dish out lotsa damage. Plasma bomb: A short range rocket bomb with a plasma warhead that packs a huge punch, the primary weapon of bombers. Particle beam: Laser type weapon, but on a much larger scale. A particle beam is the battleships version of a laser cannon, sending out a solid beam of charged ionic particles at lightspeed, a particle beam causes massive damage. Due to high power requirments, can only be mounted on destroyer class ships or larger(destroyer, cruiser, battleship) Coil gun: Using magnetics, coil guns fire off huge "dumb" projectiles. While the profectiles done track anything, and so they are more inaccurate that energy or missile weapons, they pack a huge punch. These are the space equivilent of a modern battleships 16-24 inch cannons. Can only be mounted on cruisers and battleships. Rail Gun: using magnetics, rail guns fire off a small, pointed projectile. While it sounds similer to a coil gun, the projectile on a rail gun is much smaller, and therfore goes much faster, with a much longer accurate range, kind of like an intersteller sniper rifle. It does not have as much raw destructive power as a coilgun, but its speed and accuracy make it more like a rapier, than a sledge hammer. railguns are great for armor peircing, and hitting distinct parts on a ship(taking out the bridge, or docking bays for example) Rail guns can be mounted on any ship destroyer size or larger. If anyone doesnt like what I posted above, say what you dont like, and what should change. and I know a few people have special weapons and stuff that they have, if you could post those and their properties here as well, that would be great.

Captain Thereu was in his X-47 stealth fighter, screaming towards the enemy ships, when suddenly the world flashed around him. Screaming, he pulled up, barly avoiding the shockwave what came crashing around him. Most of his squad was not so lucky. As the shockwaves passed him by, he spun his craft around to look at the destruction that lay before him. Gone, the entire enemy fleet was just gone. Being the captain, and leader of his attack squads, he did some quick mental arithmatic, and figured out that 35 of his fighters, and 78 of his bombers were destroyed in the blast, as well as 3 of the corvettes who had been on the outer layer of the explosion. "Everybody cease the attack. I want 10 fighters 5 corvettes to stay in the area, looking for surviving ships. Everyone else return to the carrier." I lost 35 fighters, 78 bombers, 3 corvettes, and have light damage to my battleship, which will take 2 posts to fix.

As the fleet cruised in towards Solaris I, they slowed and switched on their radar systems, looking for the nearest foe. Admiral Meyer stood on the bridge of the flagship Dragons Fire as reports started coming in: "Sir, we have enemy fleet movements coming in from scattered sources around the planet. They seem to be organizing into a retreat. Orders sir?" "Order the Stealth Bombers and Fighters to exit the carrier and close. Remind them to keep their stealth profiles on, and cut down on energy emmisions until they close to optimum firing range. Have our Stealth Corvettes go out and wait in the predicted path of the enemy fleet. They wont be able to detect our corvettes until they are well within weapons range. And have Dragons Fire power up weapon systems, and engage at maximum possible range. They must not get away." (OCC, if I remember right, this is AK47s fleet I am engaging)

"What fleet units do we have ready to send out?" "Excuse me sir?" First Officer Howell asked? "Don't stand their and twiddle your thumbs, our allies have asked for help, what do we have to send?" "Well sir, considering the slightly small state of our defences, I wouldnt recomend sparing very much, but I figure one carrier, one battleship, and our stealth fleet could be sent. Stealth units are made to attack anyways, they should not stick around here waiting for something." "I don't expect that we need our entire stealth fleet, and besides, we dont have enough carriers to transport all of our fighters and bombers accross deep space. Send orders to the Carrier Lancet, and the battleship Dragons Fire. Also call up 50 Stealth Fighters and 150 Stealth Bombers. If they are available, have 2 squads of our stealth corvettes go as well. Have them ready to go at the end of the day!" "I also want more build orders shipped to Havas. They should have their starport up by now, I want 3 more destroyers to be put in queue Task Force Bug Trap Consists of: 1 Carrier Lancet 1 Battleship Dragons Fire 16 Stealth Corvettes 50 Stealth Fighters 150 Stealth Bombers Bug Trap is going to the Solaris system, ETA: 2 posts. 3 more destroyers ready in 15 posts(5 each)

The Galaxy, it seems, is gearing up for war. I will not be caught flatfooted by some warlord that thinks he can screw with my people." "But sir, 1200, that is a huge force. And then to add the stealth modifications, I dont know if we have the funds to back that kind of an expenditure up!" "We have the funds. I checked this morning. We have the funds secured away. In addition to the bombers, as soon as Havas starts mining its own materials, and making its own money, I want a starport and shipyard built. We might want more capital ships someday soon.." Message sent to Havas 3: Build order of 1200 stealth bombers. In addition, start construction on a shipyard in low planetary orbit when feasable. Bombers: 100 bombers will be produced every 3 posts, so 1200 bombers in 36 posts. Shipyard will be built in 30 posts.

so what happens when love turns and bites you in the ass? This is pretty much how I feel. Our entire lives are laid out in front of us like a mathematical formula, and we seldom take the time to change it. We are brought up, and made to go to a school that we don’t like for 12 years. And as we get out of school, we are told that we must now go to school for another 4 to 8 years if we are to have a good life and a “real” job. So we pay money that we don’t have, to go to school that we really would rather not be in. After four years, you finally graduate, and get a job. Now every day, we get up, go to work for a company we don’t care about, doing a job we don’t like for a boss we don’t know. We do this every day of the week until we are to tired to care about doing anything else. We then get married and have a kid, and instead of making our children’s lives better, we just send them off on the same path that we traveled so many years ago. We are told by the media that buying the newest version of everything that comes out every single day will give us happiness, and in our self-imposed delirium, we believe them. Unfortunately, all of these things require money. So we work and work and get more and more money, and we buy more and more stuff. This goes on and on until one day, we wake up, and we look around us expecting to find ourselves overflowing with happiness. Instead, we find ourselves overflowing with cheap plastic shit. My personal favorite answere is that to love and be loved is the meaning of life, but then love kicks your ass, and what is left?

the dreadnought is a type of battleship. The dreadnought class was the first of the "modern" battleships to be built, featuring better speed, and huge new amounts of firepower.

Ok, I was just thinking of something, and I believe that we need to solidify exactly what each type of ship is, and does, jsut so we know its capabilities. Here is what I am thinking, add what yo think afterwords if you disagree or have a different idea. Carrier: HUGE ship, with an enormous hold. Its primary role is to carry fighters and bombers and other smaller ships to a battlefield situation, and also to serve as a mobile command base. It has huge amounts of armor and sheilds, but no offencive weaponry of its own, except for small defencive turrets. Battleship/Battlecruiser: Slightly smaller than the carrier, pretty much, a Star Destroyer type craft, with huge amounts of weaponry of all types mounted everywhere. This ship is huge, and has huge amounts of armor. It has a small docking bay to transport a few fighter/bombers or scout ships. No other ship can stand alone against a battleship. Cruiser: The poor mans battleship. While huge and impressive, it does not have quite as much firepower or armor as a battleship. It's main advantage is that it is much faster than a battleship, so can be more effectivly utilized for sneaky ops. Destroyer: About half the size of a battleship, these ships are specifically designed to destroy other capital ships. They do not have very many weapons, but the weapons that they do have are usually very long range, and extremely powerful. Think of destroyers as the artillary of the battle, kind of like a cruise missile boat in modern naval battles. Frigettes/corvettes: pretty much the same thing. They are support ships that usually have specilized functions in a battle Gunships: Larger than a fighter, smaller than a corvette, they are small and manuverable, while packing a decent punch. there are several variations of Gunships, but your average gunship will probably be a missile or large cannon gunship. Fighters/bombers: Bombers are small, fast, manuverable ships that are designed to bring heavy firepower to the front lines. They are smarter and harder to kill than cruise missiles because of their human pilot, plus the bomber can carry multiple warheads, so bombers are your best bet for hurting things a lot. Because humans fly bombers, humans are also the best way to intercept and destroy a bomber, so fighters are faster and more manuverable than a bomber, but do not have quite the firepower. Umm, there I think thats it.

Ok, but that brings up the question: What is honorable? Is it honorable for me to tell someone the truth, even tho it causes them much pain and torture, or is it honorable for me to hold their hand and help them through their ordeal, or is it honorable for me to step back and let them learn for themself? WHat exactly is honor anymore?
