Just stopping by to say whats up. How is everything going?

Yea all of the main info here is very outdated so the netgamers server that i spoke of doesnt exist atm. We mainly use Hotmail not to communicate with most players. Although its quite easy to set up a mirc server again if we get more players. ATM we are sitting at about 7 people who are up and working. If you read AdmirralFF's post about the new setup we are using it works great. ATM we only have 2 servers setup so only 2, 2vs2's can happen atm. Or even 2 3vs3's. But if we get more players its very easy to create NEW "VPN"S. The old dune server, including XWIS, are screwed imo so now we have it setup to run using the LAN option ingame. Works well. Hope to see everyone there

In order to open any ports, I would suggest doing so through your router instead of through your software. "Windows firewall" To do this, you will have to go to Start, Run, Type in Command "win 95/98/me" or CMD "windows xp/2000". Once you get a command prompt open, Type Ipconfig /all "space inbetween Ipconfig and /all. Once it displays your current IP configuration you will have to look for the GATEWAY ip. This is the IP to your router. In an Internet Browser, type the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx number into the brower. It will then come up with a Login window. If you havent already set a password for the router. You can try any one of these. 1. Username - Admin Password - admin 2. Username - Admin Password - "blank" 3. Username - Admin Password - 1234 9 times out of 10 one of these will work Once you get into your router. Simply look for a type of "firewall settings" page and fill out the form to properly open your ports. Now If you are too much of a newb to handle the rest of this, I suggest you write me an email for the rest of the information. The reason I have to do it this way, is because all routers/firewalls are different, thus, I can't explain EXACTLY how to set it up without looking at a screen-shot of the firewall settings. I hope this has helped anyone that has been having problems opening ports on a router. FoX4Play

This is a message asking for the forum admins to please disregard all unactive posts about Dune2K. They mainly cause alot of confusion to the new readers. I beleive it will help alot of these threads were better organized and updated weekly. If this is too much to ask, I would like to talk to the "Head Boss" to see about getting Forum Mod rights to keep it looking presentable. Like ARedPain said.. It is still the same XWIS server that you speak of. Only thing is.. It seems to be running just fine in my eyes. There is, however, a small problem with XP it seems. but like others have said, you must only "right click" the DUNE.EXE file and go to its properties and change the compatibiblity mode to 95/98. Either one should work, although 95 is sometimes reccommended. "dont ask me" With using this mode, the user chat will seem to still have a "split-screen" but, when you actually play the game "when map is up for the game u are playing" the whole map is visable, thus, normal. I would do that, sir. But the only problem is... Every problem is different. So, I could probably do this but it would confuse mostly everyone.. Its better "in my opinon" for the users that are having problems to get 1 0n 1, Live action for solving any and all issues. FoX4Play

My name is FoX4Play. Some of you might remember me from about 6 years ago when I used to be the most active. After this long time, I have decided to come back to Dune 2000 and I also plan to bring back alot of older members. Some of you may ask, how do you plan to bring more members to this game?. I mean, it has been tryed before.. and has become unsuccessful. Well to answer your question, its called Mirc (www.mirc.com) . I have been playing alot of games for the past 4 - 6 years and have sinced used Mirc. There is a server called NETGAMERS that is on this program and beleive it or not, there are several hundred people using this program. Another question you may ask is., "Well, everyone isn't gonna wanna buy a dune 2000 cd just because you wanna play it". And this is very true.. But the only thing is, With the help of RotorZ, we have both worked around all the bugs and we can now send out a file pack that allows you to play this game online without any CD or any install whatsoever!!. So.. wouldn't anyone we ask that likes to play Online Games WANT to try this out?? OFC.. The only catch is.. I NEED YOU.. The Players that still play to help me.. GET ON MIRC.. GET IN THE DUNE2000 CHANNEL.. Help me recruit new players!! It is very easy.. I myself could and will bring about 50 new players to the community. If we all just put in our two cents.. we could have a nice player base back at dune 2000. So far RotorZ and I have found it too be bug free.. and works well. Also.. Input a username and your real/fake email address. Then you will come to a white window. You will need to type, in the bottom area, /server irc.netgamers.org. This will bring you to the server. Then all you got to do is type /join #dune2000 and your done!! Dont be surprised if It's only me in there!! After all This is my first night announcing this!!
