On one of the Harkonnen Missions against Ordos I found a small base that had brown uniformed soldiers. Are they smugglers? It say neutral unit when your cursor is over them. Do they help you if you don't kill them? ???

the sardaukar are best portrayed as bad guys. They are not neccessary evil. Shaddam is a bad guy so the sardaukar must follow him. Fremen are better fighters than sardaukar in dune. The old sardaukar could kick a fremen's arse!! They become less and less effective

Excluding feyd then. And yes a harkonnen was a coward. An Atreides had one branded a coward at the battle of Corrin. Thats why they hate each other
