I currently have 1100 dollars for a new computer, and I intend to buy all of the components. I'm waiting for one hundred to settle in, which might take a while since I am healing from knee surgery (I'm off of the job till then). Wish me luck, and any more tips than the wonderful tips you already gave everybody here would be appreciated :)

I have 320 mb RAM. One stick of 256mb, and other with 64mb. I want to take out the 64 mb, because maybe is causing my problem with Emperor. But I don`t know which one is and how to take out it.

take a look at this picture. Those are the dimm slots. Notice those white thingies at the end of the slots (both sides). Those you need to push down, which will "unlock" the dimms. I can't tell you from here which is the 256, or 64. However, there should be a sticker on them telling you how much ram they are.

yeah, if there is no markings or stickers on it that say the size, the only sure way to find out is to take one of them out, then boot up and see how much RAM is counted.

you can't judge the capacity by what the chip looks like. i've seen huge bulky sticks that only hold 8 mb and tiny thin ones that hold 256 and up, and vice-versa.

my new comp, though still dead currently... will be repaired in a week! woo... anyway, only has 512 MB or RAM ... not that isn't a reasonable amount, i was wanting to put more in... i was wondering how you install it? do i just put it in a slot, lock it in and run the comp?

and the stick i have that in the description says... 512MB PC3200 400 DDR.... or something like that (cost $98 :O ) anyway, do i have to get others that are 400 DDR or... anything that i can or can not get to go with that ? i was thinking of puting in another stick of 512

For several reasons actually. I screw around a lot with my pc in order to troubleshoot problems. I created several partitions. One HD I use to screw around with and use a part of it as backup partition. The other I devided into partitions as well and have 2 game partitions (I have a lot of games and have installed almost all of them), a partition for programs and one for Windows XP.

I'm thinking of getting another harddrive to make this pc dual boot (Next to XP also Windows ME installed).

Thanks Gryphon,

by the way do you know the exact name of the WOL server used for Emperor ?

EA games Techies contacted me last night and said that If I can find this out, they will check out the problems being experienced by everybody.

You can find out the server to which you are connecte by login into Westwood online, then alt-tab back to the desktop and open a DOS prompt. In it type netstat -n and write down the list of IP's you are connected to. Do this when you are logged into the lobby and the server IP will be between them.

[ thought Emperor also has different servers for Europe and the US ]

Wow this gets weirder and weirder,

Been there done that, I get this info

IP addresse 159.153.208.19:7000

I also get the same IPA when I select europe or usa as server, so I guess this answers the question about how many servers wol uses, just the one.

Seems to be correct. :)
