(OMG! Edric started a non-political topic!! ;D)

You know, I've noticed the theme of the "time loop" (something causes a day to keep repeating itself over and over again, and there are just one or two people who remember what happened in the previous loop, and who ultimately save the world by ending the loop) being used in more and more movies these days. Besides the obvious repetitiveness (in more ways than one ;) ), the ending of this sci-fi theme always seemed incredibly irrational to me:

Why on EARTH would anyone want to end a time loop?? Don't they realize that it means they'll live forever? And not only that, but they also have a star trek-like reset button on their hands! No matter what they do in this loop, it gets erased in the next one.

Yes, I know that this topic is utterly pointless, but I'm really curious to see if anyone knows a good reason why a time loop should be ended...

'Cause it's unnatural.

You're right, you can do anything you want, you live forever, but sometimes you'll just get bored.

I'd love to be in a world with a time loop, without me in it. I can do anything without consequence. Just like GroundHog's Day movie, with the time loop from Bill Murray's perspective. He kills himself many times, steals, etc, and it just goes back to the same day, and by the time the time loop stops, he knows how to earn the love of the woman he loves.

And people say I don't have a sense of humour! ::)

Hey, this is my first attempt to lay off the politics for a while. How about a little encouragement here? ;)

I wouldn't want to relive the same day forever. It'd be fun at first (see Groundhog Day for examples), but after a while it would become a special kind of Hell for me.

Besides, I'd be afraid that it would only be a temporary loop, and that I'd end up doing something stupid or illegal on the last time around, so I'd actually have to live with the consequences. ;)
