This question was first posed by me at Ex's site. Now, with a slightly wider audience to question, I ask again. For more infomation, see he site, General, cult topic. Is FED2K, the largest Dune group in the world, a cult of some kind?

No, because Gob turned this site from a "Dune Site" into a "Dune *PLUS* A Bunch of Other Gobbeldy-Gook Site".

Ie: "Politics, Religion, Philosophy" board. That has nothing to do with Dune whatsoever and therefore doesn't fit the theme of this site at all, yet many of the users here come either *only* and/or *mostly* to play with that Gobbeldy-Gook forum.

If Gob ever turns this into a pure Dune Site again, then we can talk about forming a cult. Until then, certainly there is no way it could be a cult because there is no common denominator for all the visitors (the common denominator *should* be Dune tho)

Is FED2K, the largest Dune group in the world, a cult of some kind?

If it is, then I'm delighted to be a part of it, but also saddened that it is quite small, being the largest Dune group in the world. But then again, there may be more 'Dune groups' out there, and one of them could have a larger collection of Dune fans than the amount that we currently have here. So I would say that it's impossible to tell, at this stage.

largest dune site? depends if your only counting the dune people or all the emperor people...err does the games people be included? or all people that have any relation to dune?(games movie/mini/books)

Well judging Dune content related in the duniverse board I would say it is top 2 (one or two from dune websites I visit)

All depends on what " largest Dune group in the world" includes, does it include a website that has some dune content and other content with lots of users, or a pure dune website.

Also, what will the new board be?(when there is a new one)

I meant most people more than anything else. The number of people who are even slightly involved is very high. Now if only some of us were in government positions we could influence the world and turn it into a giant Landsraad...

And whether we have a board for Politics or not, this is still essentially a Dune site. That's why it was created, that's why most of it's members are here. So a cult? I don't know, but if we are then I'm proud to be a part of it too!
