A warm, happy glow...

I just placed an order for the original Dune movie and the mini series on DVD at Amazon. :) . I have a warm, happy glow now. Despite the fact that in a few days I will be missing X-men 2's release to undergo a wedding... I'm happy now. :)

You're willing to pay money for the Dune Mini? :P

Seriously though, how much did you pay for it?

Kill this traitor! ;D

They deserve that money.

In my opinion, they don't. The mini was terrible. And DVD or not, I wouldn't be willing to pay $60 for it. Again, that's my opinion. And I don't see how that makes me a traitor; just because I like Dune doesn't mean I like everything that's Dune-related. ;)

hehe true true vanguard. It would be like puting a paul-mask on a pig, and then selling it as a "dune-pig".lol

hmmm... dune-pig does sound good. ;)

Nema: True, it is worth watching once, but I taped it from Space. For free. Same goes for the new mini.

TMA: You mean of course Slig? "The sweetest meat this side of heaven." ;)

Did you know they released Dune gummy worms to promote the first mini? I saw a packet earlier today on Ebay.

Congratulations on your wedding. (unless you meant you were just going to one)

60 dollar for dvd? I only payed 40 for it and thats when it just came out on special edition.

Lets not get into a which is better movie/mini argument. Both had their problems and success.

Oh and I own both on DVD.

Hm. The last time I checked, the Dune miniseries certainly were NOT a barnyard animal ............

I find Your Dune-pig example rather amusing, but seriously - a pig hasn't ANYTHING whatsover to do with Dune.

Unlike the Dune miniseries which DO have something to do with Dune... Actually QUITE alot.

Because the last time I checked it, the Dune miniseries' storyline seemed quite like the one in the original novels.

Oh, and it had the same characters too.

Your example is amusing, but with a weak foundation.

A barnyard animal with Paul's mask is NOT Dune. But a movie made after the original books (even if the movie sucked noogies) IS Dune.

You see?

I think that seeing the Dune miniseries IS, in fact, worth it. If not, then at least a little.

I believe that no one's eyes didn't pop out seeing those 3 movies, so why complain?

And if You DO wanna complain then rather don't do it here, but address it to the director.

Firesnake: TMA was referring to my post:

And I don't see how that makes me a traitor; just because I like Dune doesn't mean I like everything that's Dune-related.

And my eyes did not pop out. I thought the mini was quite stupid from beginning to end. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

The Dune-pig is Dune-related. The mineseries WERE Dune.

I must admit, if You say that the miniseris were terrible, THEN SO BE IT! I respect one's opinion and have nothing against it. It's all the matter of taste.

But as You dictated the miniseries being merely Dune-RELATED, that really felt awkward to me.

The Dune Miniseries was not Dune. Dune is a novel, which was written over thirty-five years ago by Frank Herbert. And besides, can a thing not be related to itself, the ralation being that it is itself?

I liked the original miniseries and loved the Children of Dune miniseries. I think the change in director, actually spending some money on visual effects, and making a real soundtrack helped CoD alot. Some of the same actors from the first mini (Gurney for example) actually had a much better performance in CoD. I really think it was the change in director that made the difference. Regardless of how bad the original miniseries was it is based on Dune and I always enjoy returning to that universe. Good purchase.
