About Hindu Karma...

One of my Hindu friends explained it to me a while ago that interfering with Karma in a positive way is not actually interferance, rather something that will add to your Karma in the next life. The beggar on the street example you used, emprworm, is quite true because the wealthy and the dominant in India abuse Karma to their own ends, but it is not the way it was meant to be.

anyone ever heard of zoroastarianism? first monothe....well actually there were 2 forces one evil one good constantly at battle and you had a choice. and then there was a judment at the end. the jews were in persia and were influenced by this religion which is alot older than judaism. Technically the persians were more like modern religions in the time were the greeks were worshiping many gods. i thought that was interseting.

agree. but what i was getting at was that everyone is always talking about the greeks were so great, when the persians were the ones who came up with their religion. Also alexander encouraged his men to marry persian women. hellenistic civilazation was a mixture of persian and greek civilazations. he also created alexandria (egypt) to replace the persian empires capitol of perspolis. sorry about the whole persian rant.

Gob, you are a great person for realizing that. I love the bumper sticker "Christianity has Pagan DNA". Anyhow...

Ostara- A Goddess that had a festival around what we now call Easter.

Yule/Christmas- A time of Divine births. The birth of Jesus, and in many Pagan religions the rebirth of the Horned or Sun God.

12 Days of Christmas Song- There was a Pagan festival for Yule which lasted twelve days.

Most of our Christian holidays fall upon the datings of the old Pagan ones. Some suspect that this was scheduled so that it would make conversions easier.

By the way...like the Superbowl?

Imbolc is usually quite close to the Superbowl, midwinter festival time!

Of course, the Super Bowl is not officially our midwinter pagan festival. But let's look at the facts: All our religious feast days are rooted in pagan celebrations. Take Christmas. Roman pagans had celebrated the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, on Dec. 25 long before Jesus

yeah that is pretty obvious. One great example is the shepherds that are out in the fields at night, the ones who see the angels that tell them of the newly born messiah. Shepherding at that time of night was normal during temperate or hot parts ofthe season. It never occured though during the winter, that is when they were stocked up in a stable. The best estimate is sometime in early april. The bible never says he was born on december 25th, it has to do again with a pegan holiday. The catholic church wanted more converts so they would take holidays from other religions, change them a bit, and celebrate them on the same day as the pegan holidays. They would then allow the pegans to slowly intergrate into the church. pretty sick stuff that the catholic church did.

This is one reason I have differences with religions if Christains for example know such knowledge why allow it, it is a falsehood. Why does Christiany allow a pagan celebration to be assoccated with the birth of Jesus it defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I've heard people attack it because of that before.

But we aren't celebrating that. I mean are you going to let a bunch of pagans celebrating who knows what ruin the true purpose of Christmas? it looks like it would be all the more reason to praise the Lord.

No but by allowing such and not educating people makes for very strange bedfellows many are sleeping with the enemy. Religion is corrupted by such things that are allowed to happen. Take the "image" of Jesus that is so widely accepted it is a falsehood also so it is just one reason but many for me and not just Christainty. As far as praising your Lord it can not be such if modern Christians allow the religion to be surrounded by falsehoods.

who is that one evangelist on TBN who has some wierd accent. i think he is from Lebanon. He "heals" people and then takes their money. Dateline debunked him like 5 times, yet people still believe in him. He persuades old ladies to give him donations while they die of cancer or somthing. He has like billions of dollars. Im not attacking the religion just that one guy. Any body know who im talking about?

Benny Hinn, the most disgusting piece of televangelist trash currently on the...erm...I have harsh feelings towards Mr Hinn due to his bodyguards tackling news crews, and the fact he is not registered with the organization that tracks all money donated to an evangelist. And yeah, Dateline had a nice thing on him a few weeks ago.
