Jubilant Iraqi Exiles Storm Embassy in London

54 minutes ago Add World - Reuters to My Yahoo!

LONDON (Reuters) - Iraqi exiles living in London on Wednesday stormed the former Iraqi embassy in the capital in celebration of the apparent collapse of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s government in Baghdad.

"It is still hard to take in but this is one of the happiest days in the history of the Iraqi people," Al-Maher said.

=-------------------------------

For IRAQI's this is one of the happiest days in their lives.

For non-Iraqi first-world ignorant european bush/america haters war protesters (who claim they care about Iraqi's lol!) this is a terrible day in history.

"I'm 49, but I never lived a single day. Only now will I start living," said Yussuf Abed Kazim, a mosque preacher, as he bashed the statue's pedestal with a sledgehammer, knocking off tile and concrete. "That Saddam Hussein is a murderer and a criminal."

----------------------

the rejoicing is pouring in.

BLood was spilt for freedom, but as many of the hypocritical war protesters understand, the cost of freedom is worth the price, when obtained.

The ends (Freedom) is worth the means (fighting for)

War protestors who wanted to keep Iraqi's enslaved....who actually protested the war because there would be "needless deaths" are the trash of the world. Why are they trash? Because they think that dying for freedom is a "needless death"

these people are trash in my eyes.

You know that with the Iraqi citizens this happy fully justifies the war? It means that they wanted it, they approved of it, and they love it. Whether WMDs are found or not, this war is justified.

it is UNQUESTIONABLY justified. It is a fight for freedom.

and the amount of people that DIED in this quest is unbelievably SMALL.

how many americans died in their fight for freedom? hundreds of thousands!!!! Same with Europeans.

AND IT WAS STILL WORTH IT

what I RESENT...what i UTTERLY HATE

are these bigoted caucasian Europeans/American war-protesting hypocritical maggots who HAVE FREEDOM (that was bought with blood) trying to stop the freeing of the Iraqi's and then having the audacity to use the protection of Iraqi's as their excuse. They claim " innocent women and children who will die in the war" as if that is justification for NO WAR. These people are ignorant, immoral bigots. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT IRAQI PEOPLE. All they care about is hating Bush/America. Loss of life has been unbelievably small for the obtaining of freedom. These people in Iraq are CELEBRATING...IRaqi's worldwide are CELEBRATING....Freedom is NEVER for free.

and the LAST thing an oppressed person wants is some opulent first-world caucasion who already has freedom, marching around in concentric circles yelling about how there should be no freedom for the oppressed becauase a civillian might die, and that makes it all wrong.

screw them. i am really sick of them. i just cant stand them anymore.

i need to get away. lol, because i am so disgusted by these war-protesting bigots, it makes me SICK to hear their utter contempt for oppressed people while they stuff their face with cheeseburgers and watch hollywood movies, they protest in DEFENSE of one of the top 20 murderous maniacs this world has ever seen. It is unbelievable. I need a break.

The type you refer too will have to eat their words soon, if they are honest. But I suspect most will be too stubborn to do so or will try and through on some irrelevant, obsolete, or unrelated twist in an attempt to justify their original position. IMO it takes more courage to change your mind and admit error than it does to stand up for something erroneous until the end of time.

Even I'M amazed at how effectively the coalition has faught the war - and how cautiously. I know it's not over yet but so far the UN's casualty estimates are off by, lol, about 100,000% I knew those were exaggerated as they have absolutely no clue how the war would be faught. 500,000 casualties my foot. Right now I'm enjoying the footage of Iraqis celebrating happily, denouncing Saddam for the first time in a quarter of a century, tearing down monuments, burning billboards, and defiling murals. What makes me even more happy is that the British and American troops are being recieved with open arms.

I'm worried that the current anarchy, though is going to turn ugly. We NEED to get some order in there quickly.

In Basra, the British are already meeting with Civilian leaders to set up a provincial government. I hope they get this done soon. The worst thing that can happen now is the Iraqis turn on each other in the power vacum.

Still, the sweet taste of vindication is great. For those of you who claimed that the Iraqis supported Saddam, and didn't want us to step in, look pretty silly now. And for those of you that said we acted stupidly, and said that we had no justification to go to war, go to the streets of Baghdad or Basra and ask the citizens if they feel the same way.

Two of the most telling things that happened today for all you anti-american morons, is Iraqis kissing pictures of Bush, and shouting their thanks to us, and the AL Jazeera reporters getting chased out of Basra (which just strikes me as funny as hell) ;D. I want to rub that in the face of all those fantatical Arabs and anti-war protesters and you anti-american fanatics.

Indeed, a glorious victory for the American Empire. It's good that the Iraqis are happy and celebrating - as soon as the realization of the true nature of this regime change sets in, they might not be so happy any more.

The USA is now officialy a universal empire. This is not to say that it is a bad one. Nor that it is a good one. Just as you couldn't call the Roman Empire good or bad.

It will take many years before any of us will be able to look at these events objectively.

Edric, some Iraqis already noticed this and are happy just for what just happened, still worried. We see this when people start yelling, booing and showing their flag when a soldier put the American flag on the statue's face. The marines certainly didn't want to insult and were showing his own position, but people seemed to have a different position...

it is an empire only if we stay, but we will not be staying for more than a couple years.

it takes more than 2 years of "staying" to be called an empire. if we leave in 2 years....your statement will be false.

I disagree. If the military must stay more than 2 years to keep the peace, then they must. But that doesn't mean it's an empire. If they stay when the Iraqi government can take care of themselves, then it would be an empirish state.

It's not an empire in the Roman sense of the word, because land is no longer the foundation of the economy. Modern empires are not about conquering land. They are about political, military and economic influence.

The USA is an empire because it can do whatever it wants and the rest of the world is powerless to stop it. It is also and empire because the political and economic system of the United States is the one currently ruling the world.

if we dont Kill Saddam, He will come back, he all was does, seems like it dosnt it?

If the Iraqi's grow to hate the west, it would provide a perfect time for saddam to return. IE a Napoleon, that is why it is imperative to take out Saddam and keep the Iraqi people happy.
