For those against homosecuality or for no sex before marriage: where in the Bible would it say that love is not enough?

I have some ideas how some could believe so, but I still want the answer.

Posted

Because God wants you to have something special to share with the one that you marry. Sex should be something that only you two participate in, and no one else.

I am trying to find the passage where the bible says that, but Im not sure where it is right now. I will keep looking. (although Leviticus, chapter 18 has a ton of sexual DON'T's)

and as for homosexuality: Leviticus 18:22=Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

Leviticu 20:13= If a man lies with a man as on elies witha woman, both of them have done what is detestable. they must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

In the Bible the city of Sodem was a wicked city. Gay people people takeing others wives etc etc. God judged that city. Not only that but the Bible tells us not to in the Ten Commandments.

Leviticus 18:22

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Personally I do not see a perfect compatibility between OT and NT in term of direct content, but there may be one historically. One brings to the other, somewhat. All the foundations that are needed for what says Jesus is in the OT. In itself, I believe we should base ourselves on Jesus' teachings and see the OT as I just said (which doesn't make it totally irrelevant but limits certain things, espescially anything going slightly against the message of Jesus: love, compassion, comprehension, oecumenism...).

he came to fulfill the laws. Principles within the law though are universal and still apply to us. How can we tell? well the new testament tells us. In Romans chapter 1, Paul talks about homosexuality, and how "men burn with lust for other men" and likewise with women. That it is an unnatural act and a sin. As for intercourse before marriage, it says in Titus, Phillipians, Corinthians, blah blah that fornication is sin. The reason being is when you have intercourse with a person, You are basically marrying htat person in God's eyes. So when you sleep with multiple people, you are committing not only fornication, but adultery. Sex was established in the garden of eden as a recreational thing between adam and eve. The meaning of "the two shall become one flesh is metaphorical and actually physically true. Intercourse is the way that bonds couples. Its righteous and well... Cant wait to get married. hehehe ;D anyways, it is just one of many things that is wonderful between married couples. After the fall of adam and eve though, they had to reproduce in order to produce a messiah to save themselves and humanity. so not only is it recreational, but deals with procreation as well.

christ fulfilled the law, and nowhere in the new testament does it say to kill anybody, far from it. Read the sermon on the mount.

and also, stop reading the propaganda websites that dont do their studying acriku.lol

Oh I'm sorry, I guess all of the verses I posted are completely wrong and out of context and I should read the bible to acheive complete enlightenment and then be converted because I can then understand god which I don't now because I am just a young rebelling teenager that doesn't want to be good and before I kill everybody because my morals and ethics are not absolute - to be saved by the holy lord jesus christ amen.

There in context, just not in affect today (Matthew 5:27-29) that was the old law.

Also, i'm not here to argue but to answer questions. No rudeness intended but try to stay ontopic.

Did Jesus come to fulfill the OT laws, or to replace them?

He come to fulfill them. Tons on stuff recorded in the OT written hundreds of years before they actully happend were predicted. I'l see if i can gather you up some reffrances tommorow. (it won't be to long.)

If he came to fulfill them, why do you say they aren't in effect now?

Lk.16:17

"It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail."

That verse is out of context

Luke 16:15(the verse right before)

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

He din't come to change the law(sorry i misread you earler.) he come come to die on the cross and (mainly) and to fulfill prophecys. over 100 prophecys written in the Old Testament was fulfilled latter and written in the New Testament. No other book can make that claim. For example Psalms 22:1 and Matthew 27:46

Did Jesus come to fulfill the OT laws, or to replace them?

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

Mt 5,17

He came to show the meaning by setting the law of love:

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Mt 22,37-40

Leviticus 20:13

So this is the loving God...*sigh*

There are more such commandements. But the punishments are set as a law for the chosen nation. Chosen to maintain God's cult until the mankind will be ready to receive Jesus' preaching of love and protect it from outer influence. Adultery (including sodomy and homosexuality) was many times a ritual of pagan Canaanites, which were considered as threat for Jews. Same as other forms of Baal worshipping: occult drugs, selfinjuring, human sacrifices etc. were strictly persecuted. Also "put to death" many times means "banished from the nation" (i.e. Gen 17,14).

A lot of judging to those who dont ever want to believe. It is funny that those who just are so negative to religion, will attack religion and talk as if they are disappointed in it. you have nothing to be upset with. you arent a sufferer of anything religion has done. if you think you are, then it is in your head.lol Some christians like to judge people, but I cant count how many times I have been judged for being a christian, with no fault of my own. so you who feel you are rightieous, your not alone.

How many times are you going to say that TMA? Every thread I talk about bible verses, or someone else, you spew the same crap out. Atleast update your crap so it keeps interest.
