slaphapy
I just checked my email, because I haven't for a few days, and I noticed there was an email from big@boss.com (don't go to that url just in case)...with an attachment saying here is that preview you wanted (or something like that)so being stupid, not thinking about what I was doing I opened the attachment, and then my Nortan popped up saying it found a virus, and it couldn't quarantine the virus or delete the file it was in.... this isn't good, i am doing a nortan virus scan now to see if it can find the virus.... Nyar, if you are still on could you plz tell me if you have heard of this, and any ways in which I could get it off my system, if it's still on there, I would be greatly appreciative. Nyarlathotep
It couldn't probably quarantine or delete it because you were directed to a website ?In that case you've got not much to fear. Just be glad it got noted by Norton.See what the scan comes up with and try to see if there's a Norton update.

Nyarlathotep
there is no such thing as boss.com,tried searching for it on 'Yahoo!'That's no surprise. IF someone is going to send a virus, I'll doubt he'll use a real e-mail address...
lowzeewee
But how does he hide it from his real email add?
gryphon
That's not that hard, could have used another mailserver for it or imply a small programm to do so. If you open it with ourlook [ or any other commen email client ] it won't detect that the email if fake. Some programm's can, depending on how good a job they did to hide it. Acriku
I barely even open junk mail, so opening attachments from an unknown source is very very against my ways. It seems so vulnerable, and well - stupid. No offence ;)
lowzeewee
Does it affect Yahoo! or other 'free' email addresses too? ???
IxianMace
I barely even open junk mail, so opening attachments from an unknown source is very very against my ways. It seems so vulnerable, and well - stupid. No offence ;)Likewise. However, sometimes it may be possible for legitimate mail to somehow find its' way into your Bulk/Junk mail folder, so I at least take a look at the e-mail name and the sender before I click 'Empty folder'. ;D
slaphapy
I barely even open junk mail, so opening attachments from an unknown source is very very against my ways. It seems so vulnerable, and well - stupid. No offence ;)well, I was really tired, (i guess that's not an excuse) but i looked at it, and the subject said : here's that preview you wanted (or something) and me and Ryan (Effects_guy) have been emailing each other since that Cod chat night, and we've been sending each other lightwave things, and I've been getting help on some things, and when I saw that subject, i didn't really think about it, and thought, hmmm maybe it's from Ryan (he may have multiple emails, you never know) and I opened it, and it wasn't till my Nortan popped up, that I realised, well this is a dam* virus some ******* sent me (then some more cussing) ....anyway, I'm hoping that when nortan popped up, it stoped the virus, but I'm runing another virus scan now with the newest update ( I update whenever they are available)and they just recently added a new one, so I updated it, and now I'm doing a scan, i'm just paranoid that it will kill my comp, because a while ago, my dad opened some email that contained, guess what, 3 worms, (AHHHH!!!!) which literally ate my hardrive within a mater of days... so now i'm just paranoid :-[
gryphon
Usually when Norton warns you it has found a virus it will block it. [ allthough depending on the option you've choicen for what to do when I find a virus, quarentine, delete, nothing, always ask. Thought the default was set to quarentineBesides, does your computer give you any indication that it is infected in any way ?
