Free Graphics Program

Are there any good free graphics programs besides Terragen? I ask this cause I recently got XP and relized HOW MUCH THE GRAPHIC OPTION SUCK ASS! So I need a good graphics program, anyone know of any?

what do you mean exactly by graphics program?

do you mean something in which you can edit pictures... or create pictures... if so you could try photoshop

i know there is the gimp and microsoft photo editor. photoshop you could use the trial version.

You always have paint.

I use paint often for texturing 3dmodels ;D

Paintshop Pro 7 kicks ass, and the evaluation version can be d/l here:

It has a bug which means that it will work even after the 60 day 'expiry date'. Mine is on day 349, and still going strong.

Furthermore, the evaluation version is very complete, and has most of the tools you are ever likely to need. Plus you can do animations... :P

To use past 60 days, simply put all the pix you want to edit in a folder on you rdesktop and right-click on it. Select 'browse with psp7' and then click 'close' and 'start' on the next two screens that come up. Et voila - easy.

Now that we're talking about Graphic Programs, i want to make a animated .gif signature, same size as this one, what should i use? and how?

But Paintshop is better than Photoshop (I have several, believe me).

i like the adobe product line much better than jasc. they are just better quality.

personally, I really, really, really like photoshop 8)

there has not been something i wanted to do that i could not find out how with photoshop.. the only problem is, that even the tutorials do not show you all the possibilities with photoshop

i am in a comp. animation class... and at the begining of the year we had to draw out a cartoon (300 cards..individually hand drawn) and then we scanned each one into the comp.. and we edited them with photoshop... (took a long time) then we pluged them into a .gif animation program and ran them at like 10fames/second (not the standard, but when we had to draw them all out... 10frames/second is really fast) anyway, after that we had to make a music video out of photoshop editing, and out of both of those projects, there was not a thing i found that either me nor my partner could not do, and even after all that, i can still find new things to toy with in photoshop... it is my absolute favorite program, if you can afford it [hide]or download it[/hide] then i would really recoment getting it... ::)

btw: anyone that likes 3d animation .... i would recomend lightwave7(comes with modelor7) and it is a super sweet program, once you figure out how to use it of course... ;D
