Cyborg
however, using the editor will make the modding easier and maybe funnier :)
stefanhendriks
:) I hope so. It would be a lot easier if you just could do:ADD->Unit Typefill in the fields, select the files, could even see how the unit will look like (as you specify the width per unit on a file) and you don't even need to restart the game to check if your unit LOOKS okay. Frodo
the ini file looks extremely easy to edit, great job stefan!
stefanhendriks
You don't need to, here is an example of a unit. (ZIPPED)All you need to do is show a part of it. You start at 0,0, and go to bmp_width, bmp_height. (which you specify in the INI section of a unit). That part is visible. Startpixel moves the beginning X (0 standard).[EDIT]Oh, i did not mention it yet but the files are not in a data file anymore. So you don't have to worry how to extract it. Thats what i mean with easy-to-mod :)[attachment archived by Gobalopper]
Edric O
Can you say "Storm Planet - War"? ;)(Stefan knows what I'm talking about, he he he)
vidiware
Well I will try to mod it when its finnished...I could be interested in trying to make a ini editor too, but first i want the ini to be 100% completed...And maybe i have a contest to win.. Cyborg
My editor is on good way, Stefan.I will have a clean texteditor with colored code ready by tomorrow. But a simple notepad program is useless, so I will add much more features before I release it, hopefully, together with your game. :)
stefanhendriks
If its able to copy/paste, show stuff in color and do the notepad basic stuff... could you send it then? I know more features are better for a release, but it would make my life a lot easier reading my own ini file :)
stefanhendriks
Can you say "Storm Planet - War"? ;)(Stefan knows what I'm talking about, he he he):D yeah i know. I bet you can do it on your own, if you have some artists around here.

stefanhendriks
great!! :Di am quite suprised how many people are actually interested in the Dune clones.. especially when enabling modding :) ::)
Cyborg
Here's your alpha of the editor, Stefan.*EDIT*New version uploaded.Old fixes:* New wordpainter which paint the file instantly(may delay if the file is big)* Paint's some words differently from the first version.Old Fixes:* Special definition color.* Lines referring to a definition that exists will appear bold.* File will repaint only if you've typed anything since the last repaint.* Arrow keys also repaints file.(only up and down arrow keys)New Fixes:* Fixed bug with some missing characters* Added sub/class creation tool(works pretty well :))* Other minor bug fixes[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

stefanhendriks
:-[ :- wish i could try it. I still got my OCX errors. And i can't seem to find a proper OCX package. I need the file RICHTX32.OCX , i have a method to register it. I did find a version on the internet, but it does not register well (error). Maybe there is a special package? (i do have the VB runtime lib, but it does not contain that OCX file).
Cyborg
you do not need to register any ocx file at all.Just put it in your windowssystem32 folder(system for win98, 95 and ME). :)I will maybe add that file in a future install package. stefanhendriks
In fact, you need to register it, some programs require that. Anyhow, it did not work, i don't have a proper version probably and no other VB runtime library (as i get directed to) seems to work. :-
stefanhendriks
w00t, found finally a working link to a file, saw the editor. Looks nice. The only flaw i detected so far is the 'loading' at start (to color the lines). :)
Cyborg
I know. It's kinda slow.I will sort it out soon though. So don't worry. For others who might need the ocx file, here it is.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]
stefanhendriks
I don't mind waiting a bit for the lines to color, it was just a little thing i noticed. Its way more easier to read the ini file now. Phew, saves me a lot of hassle already! :D
vidiware
I think he talked about updating...As soon as i have finnished my work with my newest mod, i will become a 100% computer programmer... (that means, i will try to make an ini editor, just to see if i can manage to make 1)
