Gerf
that might be something to do with the audio propertiesor it might be because of the movie. most movies now use Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding. this works best with a 5.1 speaker setup, which is: front left, centre, front right, real left and rear right satelittes, aswell as a subwoofer. the centre speaker handles all of the speech, so ur sound may be distorted because of ur speaker arrangement, or u dont use a 5.1 speaker system

Timenn
do you mean how the backround music and soundfx are a lot louder than the voices of people? I have that problem. No, I meant that the sound isn't synchronized with the video anymore when you skip a part.
zamboe
Whatever one was free, I forget. But I've downloaded a lot of codecs to work with it.Are those codecs for WMP (in W98) made by MS ? or no ?. Cause I have upgraded a WMP 7.0 that the max you can get for W98 but it certanly keeps giving me trouble in reading DivX files.
