I downloaded several codecs. And DivX player alpha 2.0

But I play movies with Windows Media Player. It doesn't mess up the sound like DivX player

do you mean how the backround music and soundfx are a lot louder than the voices of people? I have that problem.

that might be something to do with the audio properties

or it might be because of the movie. most movies now use Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding. this works best with a 5.1 speaker setup, which is:

front left, centre, front right, real left and rear right satelittes, aswell as a subwoofer.

the centre speaker handles all of the speech, so ur sound may be distorted because of ur speaker arrangement, or u dont use a 5.1 speaker system

No, I meant that the sound isn't synchronized with the video anymore when you skip a part.

Whatever one was free, I forget. But I've downloaded a lot of codecs to work with it.

Are those codecs for WMP (in W98) made by MS ? or no ?. Cause I have upgraded a WMP 7.0 that the max you can get for W98 but it certanly keeps giving me trouble in reading DivX files.
