antonym,

In Homeworld do you use DirectX or OpenGL for the 3D acceleration? I have tried the latest drivers (1.07 non beta) for Shogun Total War and the rain is not translucent. This is even mentioned as a known problem for this game and Voodoo cards. What type of Voodoo card do you have? I have a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI. I would like to know where you obtained drivers that fixed this problem.

Umm.... can anyone help me?

I've sorta figured my problem out. I have a VIA Chipset and a PCI Sound card, and apparently the conflict. So I did as I was told to do by the tech support people, and I downloaded the 4-in-1 drivers.

SO I tried installing the drivers, but when I boot up Windows it says it's found new hardware and tries to install the drivers for them. The hardware is like VIA PCI something or other, and PCI Bus or something.

And when I try to install the Sound part of it (a seperate install) it says I haven't enabled the PCI Audio slot in the BIOS, however when I go to the BIOS it says Auto for that option, and there is no Enabled.

So anyways, I think VIA should get some working drivers. I downloaded the right ones for my Chipset, and Audio, but they dont seem to work. I'm getting tired of tech support. This is ****ing me off so much.

octax, are those drivers for your videocard from your card manufacturer ? If not, try the latest drivers from them. You also might want to try the latest GeForce 3 drivers form you card manufacturers site.

If those drivers are from your card manufacturer, what brand is it ?

nine12, what options do you have in the BIOS, besides "auto" ?

And is the SB128 a seperate card in your system, or is it intergrated on the motherboard ?

dune01, I'm kinda surprised that Visiontek hasn't got the 12.60 drivers. Also, it's wierd that Vsiontek doesn't show as "Video card"... I'm kinda lost there, but I'll search for you.

Hey Nyar, any luck? Do you think the 1260 drivers off of Nvidia's site would work? Or do I need to see if VisionTek is just slow to post new drivers? How long ago did the 1260 drivers come out?

Thanks.

Nyar: The options are Auto and Disabled. The SB128 _IS_ built into the mother board.

Dune01, I don't know when 12.60 came out. I'm currently at work, but will check the driver date when I get home.

[Edit: You might check Nvidia's site for any newer drivers then 12.41. Same goes for MrShadow.]

Nyar: I disabled the Audio thing and there's no difference.

nine12, that rules out your soundcard if you ask me. So don't worry about the drivers...

Dune01, haven't had the chance yet to check the driver date...

Nyarlathotep, do you mean the 1.04.00 WHQL driver ?? I already have the 1.07 version - wouldn't that be the better driver ??

I have tried the -c option, but what is the +w ??

ewan, to take Alley_cat again as example, he had the Voodoo 1.07 drivers, but the game locked up on him. He then installed the 1.04 drivers and the game worked. I asked WW tech the question how come older drivers work (better) and newer ones don't.

About the +w option, it loads the movies into memory, in stead of playing and reading from the cd if I'm not mistaken...

Statement of WW on the Voodoo driver issue:

"At 08/06/2001 05:03 PM we wrote - We are looking at the Voodoo driver issue, but since 3DFx is out of business, it is difficult to predict what the answer will be."

Guy's, I have to admit, WW tech support has been very helpful towards me. Dispite the fact that I haven't been able to provide an update on x-ray's system to them, they still keep my case open.

I've asked them about the issue GeForce users have and am awaiting an answer on that one. Dune01, I took your problem as an example. They might ask for a EAsy.txt report, with the Visiontek drivers installed, but I'll let you know !

I'll keep you updated ! :D

nine12 and octax, could you please summerize what you've done so far ? I hate to provide you with stuff you've already tried. Also, did you try the suggestions in this thread ?

Thanks in advance !

Nyarlathotep,

Thanks for the explanation - I'll download the 1.04 driver and give it a whirl. Let you know the outcome in a few days.
