have any of you guys ever had an epiphany? like something that just hit you that almost changed you? Like for the longest time I was always worried about the future. I realized that the future is unable to be changed and that the most important thing is to focus on the now. I also "wake dreams" when I write or study. Like from things as simple as looking outside and understanding the beauty of a cherryblossom tree or deeper stuff about God and the metaphysical. I just want to hear from experiances you guys have when you realize something really cool or interesting. This isnt about religion at all, just a post to let people share some of the things they have thought about and want to share. Ill post more of mine later if this post gets up and going.

I want to hear about dreams you have realized. :)

whoa I just thought of something right after I posted this.lol You cant explain colors. You cant compare them with anything else. You cant explain why the color red is red. Or why blue is blue. Just kinda mind boggling. pointless but hey, thought I would share.lol :)

I had a wake dream thingie, when I cut myself on my foot, and for a second I just looked at it. It hurt like hell, but suddenly thought, why am I being affected by this cut? It's just pain, and can be dismissed, or buried. So, from then on I have been working on how to control pain intake, and have become far less likely to act on pain. :) I burned my thumb on the iron when I went to reach for it, then I said hmm and went on with my ways.

actually through science you can explain colors. off the top of my head i don't really remember it but it is possible to explain something like why the color blue is blue. :P

and a little off topic here but acriku, i like that sig thing of yours about teaching someone religion and teaching someone to think. it's almost like that one 'Give a man a fish, he's fed for a day. Teach a man to fish, he's fed for a lifetime.' well not really, but sorta. :-

lol I totally went through the same thing joe. I love when you think of that kind of stuff.

SO you can explain why the color blue looks blue? I dont think that is possible.lol

Blue is blue because that is the color that reflects off of the, say, blueberry. Just a bunch of *fwoomp**reflection cha cha cha**acid color hippy trip* Oh and yes, I'm bordering self-sadist :)

well if you want me to prove it to you i'll go out and do a little research. two years ago in Physical Science my teacher was tellin us how and why things are blue, red, green, etc. gimme a little while and i'll get back to you on itl.

ummm doesn't it have to do with the way the light is changed by the photons from it going through the atoms causing the electrons to jump their energy levels giving off a light by the different type of photon it is.. *takes a breath* ... i could be wrong i dont remember that so clearly.

so any other "deep" ideas you guys thought about? Besides the color thing. hehe. you can continue talkin about it if you want. I wasnt going towards the scientific. I was just point out that its all about perception. I was reading something in a book by Oliver Sacks. He did a study on thsi man that was a great painter but got in a car wreck and lost his color vision. He could only see shades of grey and black and white. Eventually after a few months he forgot what colors were and what they looked like. He couldnt even percieve or consieve what they could be like.

i know that colors are a function of light wavelength. but try this for a trip: try to imagine a whole new color that no one has ever seen before. heh!

Self-inflicted LSD!

well if you're asking about day dreams i have dozens of em. usually while i'm in chem i stare out the window and just think about what could be or what if. it takes my mind of the boringness of chemistry. but every now and then i just get the feeling like what the hell is going on. now, i don't consider myself really all that religious in any sense. my parents have to literally DRAG me to church once every like 3 weeks or something. but every now and then i just get that feeling that i can't possibly describe. just sorta like 'What the f*ck is going on?' :-

ok how does it go... if I'm looking at a blue marble is it all the colors are absorbed and except blue and thats why we see it as blue or only blue is absorbed and all the others bounce off?

Posted

So the color we see is the one reflected all others are absorbed... so when we look at something white all colors are absorbed and when we look at something black all colors are reflected.

Posted

SO if everything around us was absorded it would be total darkness.... is that why space can be so dark.... so what about the Rainbow (the covenant from God) is it a multitude of colors being absorbed and reflected or just light being split by the prism effec tof the mist/raindrops? or both really?

well from what I know, the light (white) is absorbed in the water and then when it exits the water it displays the spectrum of colors, basically the light waves we can see. I think that is it. I hope that helps dj. :)
