The Lynch Dune was made in this way, that people who didn`t read book before sometimes had problems with understand the plot. E. g. I read interviev with Sting, he said that he doesn`t really know what Dune is about. Dune is huge book and is difficult to put all from it to movie with is only 2 hours.
