Err, thought everyone knew that.....

Its the Atreides special ability though you can never really use it online.

And it only works for light infantry, kindajal, and snipers but ya you can send them back and train more....

You'll have to run over crates of experience a total of 6 times in order to be able to train elite infantry.

1. Run into crates of experience 3 times with a normal infantry unit so he becomes elite. Send him back in to the barracks.

2. Train a 1 chevron infantry. Run in to two crates of experience with him. Send him back to the barracks.

3. Train a 2 chevron infantry unit. Run him in to a crate of experience so he becomes elite. Send him back in to the barracks and you can now train elite infantry.

You'd have to be extremely lucky to be able to train elite infantry units solely from picking up crates with experience in them. Heheh, I have a better way. Just add: ELITE = TRUE under the level 1 benefits that the infantry unit gets. Much better. ;D

true...

Is that all you have to say? Why do agree with VigilVirus about how the only Atreides infantry worth getting elite are the Snipers and Kindjals? Is it because the Snipers and Kindjal Infantry reap better benefits from their experience levels, or could it be because Atreides infantry are too difficult to keep alive in order to reach elite status?

sheesh you made me do it :)

Light Infantry

// LEVEL 1 ----------------------------------

VeterancyLevel = 5  // Score required

Health = 800

ExtraDamage = 50 // 50% more damage - applied to all weapons

// LEVEL 2 ----------------------------------

VeterancyLevel = 10

CanSelfRepair = 1

// LEVEL 3 ----------------------------------

VeterancyLevel = 20

Elite = TRUE

ExtraArmour = 50 //50% less damage received

Snipers

No actually I was talking about this:

Light Infantry

// LEVEL 1 ----------------------------------

VeterancyLevel = 5 // Score required

Health = 800

ExtraDamage = 50 // 50% more damage - applied to all weapons

ELITE = TRUE <-------------Insert here

// LEVEL 2 ----------------------------------

VeterancyLevel = 10

CanSelfRepair = 1

// LEVEL 3 ----------------------------------

VeterancyLevel = 20

ExtraArmour = 50 //50% less damage received

I haven't tried it, due to lack of interest. But you can if you like. Anyway let's not make this thread a Dune Editing thread. ;)

guys i checked it it works fine but i tried it with no veterency level i just produced 3 infantry got them back to barracks and i can train elite :P dirty trick.. ::)

Lol. Anyway, once you get one elite into your barracks the new units will be 1 chevron veterans and are thus already way more valuable. Plus those 1 chevron veterans have a bigger chance of living up to elite then an ordinary soldier.

A light infantry elite is about 1.5 times as tough as a sardaukar and does about half as much damage. They would be quite good but are impossible to achieve in a real game.

Well once you have an elite unit (3 chevrons) you select it, then move the cursor over the barracks. It should turn into 3 arrows. Now click and the unit will move back into the barracks.

well if i read what's above this can't be done.. so what do you mean GoldEagle?

I think he means he manipulated the stats in the game rules so that the infantry that come out are already elite without any chevrons. Then he just moves them back in and the barracks can train elite infantry. ::) Might as well not move the infantry in to the barracks in the first place! ::)
