I thought it would be a good idea if I posted my Ordos rush strategy against Atreides. Note: I 'm not an elite player, and it may prove that there are much better tactics than this.

So here it is:

Let's assume you 're Ordos and are playing against an Atreides opponent. You should try to figure out as soon as possible whether your enemy is inexperienced or no. How you proceed from here should depends on this.

If your enemy is newbie, you should go for the quick easy kill. You should be careful however so as not to get killed yourself: for instance, if your enemy started building a refinery, you can send a group of chems and dusties and raze the base to the ground. Bu if your enemy starts pumping out minos, dusties and chems would be a veterancy gift to him. You should send lastanks instead. Always judge the situation and take advantage of your opponent's inexperience.

Now if your enemy is skilled, there are many kinds of situations you can find yourself in. First of all there are those maps where the spice is not exactly next to his base and he has to defend them separately. Good Atreides players prefer to send out units to protect both field and base, then fortify these positions until they 're strong enough to hold off any attack. Usually this happens during the first 10 minutes. Your enemy should make a choice on where to initially focus his defence: his spice field or his base. Depending on his choice, you should launch your attack where he is weaker.

If he focuses on fortifying his base, you should immediately send units to camp on his field. Your aim is to cripple his economy. Keep reinforcing the units at his spice field to repel all his attempts to take it back. Don't send kobras there; minos outrange them and they will only cause problems. Only minos can pose a real problem. If you spot minos you should use lastanks, feds and elite sards to kill them; all other units shouldn't be hard for a group of dusties and mortars (assuming the lastanks and the other units will assist when necessary). Eventually your enemy's money will end - he will no longer be able to produce other units. Proceed with care-if for instance he has managed to build up a small defence made of minos, kindjals and any other support units, don't launch a straightforward attack. Since you have starved his economy, you should be able to outbuild him and make an army much bigger than his; alternatively you can attack by air (it's true Atreides have excellent AA defences, but they take money which your enemy won't have).

If your enemy focuses on his spice field, you should launch an attack at his base with fast units. If you have the time to target some buildings before he attacks you with the other units (that were in the spice field), attack the barracks first, then the factory (the barracks make turrets and the factories produce minos). When he does attack you, hold out as long as you can. When he seems to have overwhelmed your units, send more from your base. You should now be able to kill all his units. You now have three choices:

If your enemy's units have been destroyed you can simply destroy the base.

If your enemy starts building turrets among your units, pull them back immediately and put them at his spice field. You can now proceed as if you had camped on his spice field from the start (see above).

If your enemy starts pumping out minos and you have been left with light units, such as dusties, retreat the units at your base. Assuming you had kept building units all the time, and you had established a good economy, you should now have a much larger army. This doesn't mean you should sit and watch him recover from the early attack; force a battle. Here is a good way to do this: Send a group of mortarts with escort (the escort is there to ensure that a group of snipers or a single minos will not be able to kill the mortarts) near the side or back edge of the rock where his base is on. He will have to respond quickly by sending units out after your mortars. Since you have more units than him, launch a simultaneous attack at his base. Clear all enemy units and make the choice again:

If your enemy's units have been destroyed you can simply destroy the base.

If your enemy starts building turrets among your units, pull them back immediately and put them at his spice field. You can now proceed as if you had camped on his spice field from the start (see above).

If your enemy starts pumping out minos...etc Repeat until you are victorious.

my preforation is building about 10 dusties and lastanks and assaulting his economy with 5-6 sard elites standing by for air support. then i get lots of kobras and more elites to get their basse.

I've only read half of the reply and stopped when i saw "kobra's are just getting in the way" this is wrong, kobra's are an MUST-take unit vs someone like emprworm, the rest is ok :)

Lastanks and APCs do good when you use 4 seperate groups, say 2 or 3 each, spread out. You can assault very quick and fall back when the enemy turn. It is ideal against spicefield guard-units where you can surround them. The APCs destroy carryalls.

Not sure what sub-houses work best for Ordos though...

Apc's are horrible, for the cost you can have a group of AA Troopers that do more against air units. If a Harkonnen hits you with Gunships, yur best defense is a FEW apcs and a lot of AA Troopers plus engineers, engineers to repair buildings considering Ordos needs it to fully survive.

Now what you want to do no matter the SKILL of the player is get their harvs quick and fast, a quick blow may set them back, while they are enjured make a line around their base and continue the onslaught, bring back the units to the line if they are under attack. While you d this call worms and dominate the spice fields, when this happens its just a matter of time before they fall.

Well, you can hit 'n run with APC's too. But for that you can better have laser tanks.

But APC's can be useful for Engie rushes

The one really nice thing about Ordos APC's is that they are so fast. If you time it right, you can really take out some air units with two or three of those APC's. Also, unlike the slow-moving Atreides APC, the Ordos APC can actually be used to get Engineers into an unguarded or lightly guarded base opening before the opponent can react. Just my two cents.
