I just read about some Italian doctor who says that in months or a few years we will now wheter his human clone was succesfull or not. he has implaneted someting in a woman which when born will be clone of another human.

he has reached 20 cells, while others have only got 6.(whatever that means)

Well how the hell should I know I am not a doctor.

anyway, it will either be a freek or a perfectly normal child when born.

are you guys against cloning?

I don't think it should be allowed cos it'll only increase world population.

I saw the same thing a while back.

Any one of you had the opertunety to read an article on slashdot 2 weeks ago, telling that humans won't clone. Verry strange.

Didn't we just have a discussion about this by the way ?

I find it morally wrong because an embryo is a human technically. As soon as the thing is an embryo I call it a living being.

Thus to harvest an organ from a clone would be immoral as you are taking one life to save another.

This generation is perhaps not ready for cloning and genetic manipulation, but the next generation will. Use of anti-conception measures wasn't generally accepted at first, but now it's common.

It really is not that big a deal. The world does a lot of evil things. Frankly, as much as I respect science. I think that this goes too far.

It is not nearly as simple as that. An embroy has a specific type of basic cell (I don't know the English translation for the word) that could become any type of tissue. Skin, nerves, etc. However, adults cannot produce them. The point is to make an embryo clone of a person to acquire these cells.

Embryos are non-sentient. Plants are non-sentient yet we eat them. An embryo has the potency to become a sentient human being, but isn't quite.

I always believed life began at conception.

as the Lord said to Jeremiah 1:5

Jeremiah 1 (NIV)

The Call of Jeremiah

4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew [1] you,

before you were born I set you apart;

:I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

[1]1:5 Or chose

also it says in Psalm 139:13

Psalm 139 (NIV)

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

-------------------------------------------------

and in my opinion trying to clone or create embryos, human or animial, is wrong and trying to act Godlike.

Is a socialty ever ready for big changes that proceed along it's way ?

Ordos, it will be killing one "life" to save MANY other lives. Remember, a human has many organs, kidneys, heart, liver, brain, lungs, etc. So it would in fact be justified. And the Bible quote is fine for people who follow it, but for people who don't it isn't a standing argument. I will be satisfied if it is only used to save multiple lives, if it starts to be used as super soldiers ( ::) ) or anything so immoral I would be against it. Gryphon, it would take gradual steps for a society to accept cloning, like two or three generations to allow it legal, but then another generation to actually start testing, and then another to become an independent/group experiment worldwide. I guess :)
