Just looking at the official Emperor: Battle For Dune website at www.westwood.com and saw this mesage regarding the old forums:

Jesse "Gobalopper" Reid, FED2K's webmaster, has done a great job within the Emperor community, and we know that he will help continue the great communication between our fans that has helped make this game such a success. We'll continue to visit the boards there and answer questions from time to time. (emphasis mine)

As always, we thank you for all the time you've put into the Emperor community and hope to see you at Gobalopper's site

Did the part in yellow ever happen?

i think your connfuesd Ken, he (Emp) is asking if they did come over to Gobs place and "visit the boards and answer questions".

If they did come and post after the closing of WW forums I am oblivious to the fact.... so if they did where is the message I would be interested in reading....

and yes we al know post made over there (the old WW forums) are lost and gone forever... unless someone happened to copy a few of them

[hide] I still have navs oscar thread somewhere :P ;D [/hide] O0 >:D

i hope they found a good place to go.

I'm afraid so, Emprworm...

Westwood won't make any other Dune games, because it seems they don't sell well. So WW/EAP decided to just milk the C&C cow to death. ::)

If there will be no more EMP RTS sequels, what about at least an RPG of some sort? I mean is the entire dune franchise just a bad thing for PC games? Someone please enlighten me here. Is Dune a marketable franchise for the PC? I totally love the story, it is rich with imagination, complex multi-layered plotlines, fantasy, in-depth characters, sci-fi- i mean it just has everything a great story would have. A perfect ingredient for fantastic PC games, not just RTS, but RPG, action, or adventure. But the question is of course: is the story marketable for PC games?

It's the curse of Dune, I tell you. Yes, there are non-RPG dune PC games out there. One was actually a success (the first one). One wasn't (Frank Herberts Dune).

A few other WW employee's posted here in the past besides cliff and chris, but I don't think they have since this forum became the official one. A couple of the DG devs did as well, until they went bankrupt. None of the Frank Herberts Dune devs though. They didn't even acknowledge our existence. They talked to me once or twice. Then totally ignored us afterward. Didn't even tell us about thecontest the were running on other dune fan sites (which in hindsight was good, because they never actually went through with there side of the deal and gave the prizes out to the winners). Even after I helped them out with there spelling of Dune terms (including Frank Herberts name!), which they ended up ignoring anyway.

I think one of them, the only one that ever talked to me, is one of the people credited with making the DG video, but I'm not sure... same first name, can't remember whether its the same last or not. I don'tthink it is, I don't think either of the two dev teams had overlapping workers, but it may be....

it is because the c&c universe is way more popular. Dune is a story about a big desert with sandworms and a few fighting factions. People don't find that impressive/interesting, meaning that they'd rather fight some wars in a universe that looks a bit more alive. Dune feels a bit dead, i mean all those deserts. It's like as if there's no hope left for them
