Nyarlathotep
Your video card, do you know if it's AGP or PCI ?
number6
Ok I've downloaded the correct driver, but when I try to install it an error dialog box pops up which says: "A device attached to the system is not functioning". I can't install it!! Perhaps there is something wrong with my motherboard then? :ONot good. Are you sure your motherboard is a K7S5A? The question from Nyar about whether your video card is PCI or AGP needs to be answered also. That driver won't help if your video card is PCI. IxianMace
Not good. Are you sure your motherboard is a K7S5A? The question from Nyar about whether your video card is PCI or AGP needs to be answered also. That driver won't help if your video card is PCI.How do I determine whether my video card is PCI or AGP? We're talking about the new 64Mb GeForce II aren't we? Not the old Voodoo II 12Mb? I'm pretty sure my motherboard is a K7S5A. When the computer was purchased, a CD rom with drivers that was specifically for the K7S5A motherboard components (sound card, etc, etc) came with it. I don't think they would have given us the CD for the wrong motherboard.
Nyarlathotep
The PCI slots are the white slots on your motherboard. The AGP is the brown one. Just check which one holds your video card. usually if the video card is AGP, the first slot from above should hold the video connector (not always, but usually).. IxianMace
The graphics card is connected in a brown slot.
Nyarlathotep
When you go to device manager, do you see any yellow question marks ?Btw, you have the correct card for the driver..
IxianMace
No, there are no yellow question marks anywhere.
number6
No, there are no yellow question marks anywhere.??? Not sure how to proceed at this point. This is the only game with the problem, right? Is your video card overclocked or something weird like that?
IxianMace
This is the only game that has this problem yes. I don't overclock anything, because if I were to do so at this stage with my knowledge of hardware, then that would be just asking for trouble. I don't tamper with hardware, I'm too scared I could wreck it. :P
Nyarlathotep
I have to admit, I'm puzzeld as well. I'll try to see if I can find anything that could resolve your issue..
jacobdouds
We've had a lot of this in dune editing, but, we haven't found any solution as of yet.
aox0m0xoa
perhaps a stupid question, but gotta try everything at this stage. are you using the detonator drivers?
IxianMace
What detonator drivers? ???
Nyarlathotep
Detonator drivers are Nvidia drivers. Don't worry, you have them.
IxianMace
So Nyar, there are no new developments or ideas to what I could do to resolve the problem? No one's posted in this thread for some time. :(

Nyarlathotep
You made sure that you've closed al background programs while running EBFD (all except for systray & Explorer) ?
IxianMace
Here are the things that are running in the background while I'm playing Emperor. I don't have any programs that I know of running while Emperor is running (like Anti-virus, etc, etc), and this was taken while I alt-tabbed out of Emperor and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.DuneExplorer~ef7194LoadqmSystrayRundllEmperor
Nyarlathotep
Have you checked the links I provided ? Especially link 1 could apply as to why you can't update your AGP driver.I don't think the programs you have running in the background would cause this glitch to appear.. IxianMace
I checked Link 1 and restored the file as it instructed, but still couldn't install the new drivers. ??? Link 2 wasn't much help, as it didn't really relate to the problem I was having, only the problem with a different program/file, which I don't use.
