Nyarlathotep
Nyar there may not be *public* cheats that work on laddered games.....but there are *private* cheats that work ....these effective private cheats are designed for hackers by hackers and they dont release them to the general public like they do with the less effective public cheats. It is common knowledge that most gaming companies are able to stop the majority of public cheats but the few specially coded private cheats will not be stopped. In Addition since these private cheats are not released to the public... the game designers cannot analyze them to counter them as they are not avaible to the main public. So next time you are playing renegade Nyar and somebody kills YOU 7 times in a row... he might or might not be a cheater but it is a possiblity. And i am sure there are some privately coded aimbots out there for renegade............Maybe you're right, I dunno. As fas as I can remember, no one has killed me 7 times in a row (yet) :)There was a discussion in the Renegade forums about if it would be possible to cheat in laddered games. All the people I respect there (and it's a lot) said it wasn't possible, but they couldn't confirm the same for non laddered games. The only thing that has the Renegade players frustrated at the moment are the "own base nukers". What they do is they place their beacon in one of their own buildings and then leave the game. Their teammates arn't able to disarm it, due to a bug (only when the players leave). Result, building destroyed. It's not fixed yet, but there's a beta patch that should resolve the issue. Hopefully they'll release it soon.. Navaros
You would have to make the patch, test it, correct it, test it some more, then integrate it into the WOL servers and deploy it through the standard patching methods. It would mean WW giving access to people they don't even know, and it might not even work! It's a virtual imposibility. It can't and won't it happen. Besides, I think emp is pretty damn good without a new patch. I think the gameplay and the balance is fine, save a few annoying nick-nack bugs, but once identified they're relatively easy to work around. That is total BS. I have literally lost dozens of QM's ONLY due to pathfinding bugs - the inability of my harvesters and units to behave as the developer intended for them to. (Perfect example: Refinery Waypoints do not work. They have *no effect* on the game whatsoever, yet they are available to be set.)
Madluxan
Heheh, you should've seen how it was on Renegade when I was still playing... I was automatically a cheater since I got kills with the railgun and personal ion cannon. Considering all the new players had it engraved in their minds that "deewind uses haxx0rz!!!11" and the fact that WW was gonna end up abandoning the game, I went back to AvP2 :Phttp://divinewind.20megsfree.com/Deewind1.jpghttp://divinewind.20megsfree.com/Deewind2.jpghttp://divinewind.20megsfree.com/Deewind3.jpgAlthough the fact that my score spelled 1337 probably made them think something was up... ::)
