Navaros Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 Don't none of you be saying that your Uncle Nav never did anything for you! Some of you may already have one or both of these, but for those of you who do not, I'd like to share this goodness with my Emperor Family. These two products get the "Nav Seal of Excellence" and considering that the general consensus in the Emperor community is that I think almost everything in the universe sucks - that's pretty damn good. I am not receiving anything at all for endorsing these free products other than the satisfaction of knowing I did something good for my fellow Emperor players.Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/This app removes spyware, adware, worms, and any other wretched form of of perverse garbage that may be on your computer without you even knowing about it. Some of you may not know what spyware is, in which case, you most likely have it. Some of you may know and hate it, now you can get rid of it. Point is, if you don't already have this, GET IT. You need it. It will improve your quality of life. Also, be sure to get get the RefUpdate AddOn from the same link. It can automatically (when you manually activate it, that is) keep your Ad-Aware updated with the latest file so any new spyware will be removed during cleanups. It's like Norton AntiVirus' LiveUpdate feature, it keeps your software in step with the latest deviant spyware/worms/adware programs. RegCleaner - http://www.jv16.org/RegCleaner - NOT to be confused with the MS crap known as RegClean. Most software these days comes on the market as a half-baked, unfinished product (ie: Emperor). As a result, when you use the Add/Remove Programs function of your OS, or the Uninstall feature of a game, you often will get the message: "some components could not be removed!". It's like gee, thanks a lot you IDIOTS!. WTF???? With RegCleaner, your "WTF's" can finally be cut down to a minimum since you can safely and easily remove RegKeys for programs that you have deleted when the Uninstall or Add/Remove Progams function did not do their job and REMOVE what they PUT ON your system. Sometimes you may need to reinstall a game, but when you do, you still get the exact same problems you had before you reinstalled. This is because you have corrupt RegKeys that were not removed or overwritten when you uninstalled/reinstalled the game. RegCleaner can solve those problems for you. You can also use this to remove RegKeys written by known SpyWare-makers. No PC owner should be without RegCleaner.
Navaros Posted July 3, 2002 Author Posted July 3, 2002 >:(I know it has nothing to do with Emperor but I was trying to do something *nice* for the people who I play Emperor online with and since you just moved this topic now 95% of those people are never gonna see it.
Gobalopper Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 Would you stop complaining about people not viewing other forums already. If no one visited the other boards there wouldn't be any posts here. And last I checked the Emperor board takes up a small percentage of the overall posts.
jacobdouds Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 I particually like EasyCleaner by Toniarts. It is very good, and can also do things like find unnessacary files like tmp folders, this frees up heaps of space, 10000K a week for me.http://www.answersthatwork.com/Downright_pages/downright.htm
Acriku Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 If you are going to do something oh great Uncle Nav, give us a link we don't know about. Jeez me and my friends and most on AIM know about that stuff, and already have it. People new to the internet would probably not have this, so I guess you helped them. ::)
TMA_1 Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 oh I love corny old naveros with his wacky opinions. he is like the dilerious old grandpa that we just listen to out of love.lol
nemafakei Posted July 3, 2002 Posted July 3, 2002 Thankyou for your input, Nav; I am sorry that it is not appreciated all round. But people coming to Fed2k (even old WW people) should really be looking at the general boards, if they want to know about anything at all other than Emperor alone.
vidiware Posted July 4, 2002 Posted July 4, 2002 www.download.comhere you can find more software than you can dream about (not really)www.f-prot.com i think free dos based antivirus
SurlyPIG Posted July 6, 2002 Posted July 6, 2002 Damn I had more than a 1/2 dozen of those buggers on my comp. Oh well, I guess it serves me right for having so many gnutella programs. I have internal and external firewalls anyway, so spyware wont work, but now its not cluttering up the register and popping up those stupid porno site adds when I'm trying to work! Thanks for the heads-up Nav.
jacobdouds Posted July 6, 2002 Posted July 6, 2002 My friend had 2313 when he first got it, I recommended it to him.Funny.I don't particually like jv16, it doesn't distingiush what keys are actually not used anymore, so if you don't know your computer inside out, you can cause a serious accident.
