Three-side mod is already done for about a month. You can download Dune III version 3.03 on editing.dune2k. Sometimes I guess why this thread wasn't closed from then.

I think limit is 4. 2 for GDI and 2 for Nod.

Nah, the limit is ten.  If it were four, you couldn't add any new sides.  (Mutants, Special, GDI, Nod)  You can add six more than that, for a total limit of 10.  I tried it.
