Well I posted this in the tech support forum, but here it is in case you missed it:

Alot of people are having problems with Vista and Windows 7 running the installer, or cracker due to being 64 bit or some other problem.

I have solved this problem by preparing an installer which SHOULD be compatible with all systems. The only thing I didn`t do is digitally sign it, so while it's not Officially Windows 7/Vista compatible, it should still work perfect.

Its fully patched to version 1.06, has all the movies, and the cd check has been removed.

Thanks. Seems to have patched it correctly.  :D

yea, im updating the installer with the patches already applied. Im also coding a Tech Support program to deal with common issues out of the box, if it cant solve it it will give you a text file to email to me. I have also employed a dedicated email for technical support.

perhaps it's also nice to add (gruntlord) version number to download file name

I Don`t see why, its in the installer itself, and its the only Dune Installer in an msi. Its also only availble if you read a post about it and click the link.

WEll I posted this in the tech support forum, but here it is in case you missed it.Run the patch after the install to fix the mission select menu and delete the gamesaves that were left in.

The links don't work, they take me to a page that tells me to leave before I am incinerated?

Hello,

I'm using Vista so I was happy to be able to download the patch, but it isn't working. I updated the game to be a 1.06 version, then run the patch successfully, but the screen is still split with black strip. Is there ANY way how to fix it? Or am I just doing something wrong?

I would be happy for any help, I really miss this game a lot.. :(

OK, I downloaded the file from: http://dune.gruntmods.com/Dune/Dune%202000%20Gruntmods%20Edition/Dune%202000.msi and sdtill have the same problem, only change is, that now I don'z have black strip, I can see a part of screen in that place. But generally it's the same problem. Can it be because of my graphic card, notebook, or just because some video codecs?

use the oldest driver you can find

lol, i remember mr.fibble telling me that would make it worse, I knew it didnt.

Eh? Where did I say emulation makes things worse? ??? Y'know, I'm and avid DOSBox user, no need for me to badmouth emulation software...

Nothing is better than the original (or not?), but if you lack the hardware/software there is no other way.

actually, emulation works best in most cases.

All I said about emulation was that full OS emulation tends to be slow unless you got a really fast PC. And that technically (ON 32 BIT XP) Dune II runs without needing DOSBox.

but that's all...

Don't wanna go completely off-topic, but I've never encountered any performance speed issues with Dune 2 in DOSBox since v0.70, and I've got a pretty old PC to that.
