Mahdi
I'm loading it now from Starz website. Has anyone seen it? From the trailer I'm expecting crap, but there's always the small chance that it'l ease the pain of Rome's cancellation.... I admit, I enjoyed the 2004 miniseries as an entertaining few hours. Andrew
I watched the episode.Wasn't that good.I havn't seen movie 300, but something tells me they are trying to copy their style.Nothing like Rome.Maybe I'm being harsh because I finished True Blood just before that. nampigai
True Blood is good - it's like Californication but with teens and vampires...Although Rome was awesome I think Spartacus looks good too. Can't wait till it hits denmark
Andrew
Has second/third episode got better, or same quality as first?Maybe the reason I didn't like first episode was because I already seen movie Gladiator.
Mahdi
This is not like Gladiator. This show has to be the most homoerotic I have ever seen (and I'm not reffering to the gay couple). The latest episode has Spartacus and Crixus fighting naked in the bath. It's like they're trying to lure in gay men and straight women but I can't imagine anyone actually watching for that, what with all the ridiculous violence and gore added in.The episode before was disgusting. Torture porn in parts, including cutting off and wearing mens faces. There keeps being flashes of potential, and then they're followed by the above bullshit. Dunenewt
I'm pretty sure I know someone else who watches this...# watched the first 3 episodes of SPARTACUS, got my minimum daily requirement of blood, blades, and breasts. 9:55 PM Feb 11th from web
Mahdi
Maybe the next Dune series will be about a poor gladiator in the Harkonnen arena's who rebels and is ultimately crushed by the Beast Rabban. ::)
Dunenewt
I hope they film Dune in two parts, like they're doing with the Hobbit, that way the Gladiator scene will be in it hopefully. I think the Hawat subplot is too good to ignore.
Mahdi
I really don't see them cutting Dune into two parts. That's a huge risk to take, and tends to only be done with proven franchises (Matrix, Pirates) the original Lord of the Rings films being an exception. Nor do I see a natural break point to turn it into two films, unless you film two books into one movie and the third part into another or vice versa.Although, to be honest, I still don't see this movie getting made at all.I can see why the gladiator scene was completely cut from Lynch and shrunk in the mini. The main points of it seem to be to emphasize how delicate the political situation is, how dangerous Fenring is, and to reiterate that Hawat is working for the Harkonnens. Without 5 hours to tell the story, it strikes me as a scene of lesser importance when compared to the others. Especially since it introduces Margot and the pursuit of Feyd's children only to have them never mentioned again.
SandChigger
Well, never mentioned until Paul of Dune, you mean. ;)Give the movie the "Dune 7"/Olympics treatment, huh? Split it into two parts to maximize profits? Kewl.Quick, someone get KJA on a conference call! :P

But the first episode really turned me off so havn't done so. From what you've said I'm not missing much.
Dunenewt
I've just read that John Hannah has a leading role in this! I only remember him from the Mummy films and the Virgin Atlantic ads, but I've always thought he should play Yueh in a Dune film...
Mahdi
Will Vorenus and Pullo fight on in Varro's Legions?http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/03/04/hbo-rome-movie/
SandChigger
That might be cool.Rome's just airing over here now. (In bilingual mode, that is. One station aired it dubbed about two years ago, but I refused to watch it that way.) Just had Caesar's funeral in this past week's episode. Halfway through, it looks like. exatreide
I could barely get through how terribly the first episode of the show is. It was just....badSaying that...Slowly ever so slowly the show has caught my interest and drug me a long like a screaming slave to the pits. That and hearing a reference to Jupiter's Cock every episode is a laugh. It's drawing up slowly from the shit and into the tolerable guilty pleasure sort of mud... Here's hoping it can one day maybe break into something else.I'll keep watching it...since it's not like there's shit on anymore and I cant watch farscape anymore.
