hi, i just need to ask anout somthing wich happend after i replaced my heat sink with a new

one.. the clips were a little low and i had to push the heat sink down with a little force ..

i thought its ok even that i was worried a little bit doing that...

well when i restarted my system i got 2 system error messages

this is the logs for them at help center :

Product: Windows Operating System

Event ID: 1003

Source: System Error

Version: 5.2

Symbolic Name: ER_KRNLCRASH_LOG

Message: Error code %1, parameter1 %2, parameter2 %3, parameter3 %4, parameter4 %5.

so i got more worried i that i might have hurted the hardware...

so please what is this error

is there any relation?

thank u..

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing it's unrelated or only quite vaguely related: the OS is HDD-stored, whereas the only things you came into contact with while changing the heatsink are the processor and perhaps parts of the mobo.

well, reading through that error i saw somthing talking anout getting the messages after plugging and

unplugging stuff to the mb.. like usb, moudels,ex...

it could be when i unpluged the heat sink switch..

or my other guessing is that this errot was stored on my pc from previous time because of

somthing i did but because i dont shut me system down (allwayes on) so i didnt get that

message at startup untill i shout my pc down to install the hs  maybe thats why it came

at same time..

anyway it sayes no acrion requierd by user at the help menu

last time i put win update on it downloaded 3g of usless datato my c: driver.

anyway i dont care about s/w changes i was just worried about the cpu from pushing the heat sink.

Don't worry... Your CPU can take a serious amount of force against it.

The force you use with a clamp mounted heat sink is nothing compared to the screwed ones, and then you can still screw all you can manage without breaking anything.

What you need to make sure when attaching the clamps of a heat sink is to not break any capacitors nearby. Some motherboards have capacitors ridiculously close to the CPU brackets.

Wasn't that what AMD ones thought before the first scoket A (?) CPU's all  broke down with a busted core. . . ;)

I hope you powered down your computer at that point..

log files are constantly updated, and everytime you enter the systemlog files you are looking at a fresh one (you can press refresh to refresh it..)

but it cannot be that you see a log entry when your computer was powered down. nothing will be logged then...
