What I don't understand is why most people seem to talk as if something bad happened. But the terrorist plan was thwarted. That's a good thing.

I bet Bush and Blair's popularity increases. And Bush will hammer in that Americans need to lose their freedoms in order to protect them from an idealism.

I havn't read anywhere, but I assume they were Muslim? They tend to leave that point out for a while.

Um, why would Bush's popularity increase? He did nothing at all. Of course the Bush and Blair administrations will use this as proof that they need more powers to fight terror... which is ironic, since the event really proves that they can fight terror just fine with the powers they already have.

Everytime Bush's popularity rating is low and there is a terror threat they raise the threat level and his popularity goes up.

I'm sure there is some correlation, but I'm too lazy to search.

I don't know about religion, but the names of nineteen of them have Arabic names. Bush has blamed Islamic fascists.

Of course, what will happen now is the the TSA or the FAA is going to ban all carryon liquids on air travel, and just for good measure will throw in food. So now that the airlines don't offer free food on flights, anyone want to start a pool on when the free sodas on the airplane will suddenly become very expensive? Put me down for Aug 18, 2006.

Well as the news reports have quoted talking to their local mosques, i would assume they are indeed Muslims.

Apparently many Muslim comunity leaders have decried the police action and press coverage.believing that there was no plot.
