Abdul Rahman is charged with rejecting Islam and could face the death sentence under Sharia law unless he recants.
Afghanistan's post-Taleban constitution is based on Sharia law, and prosecutors in the case says this means Abdul Rahman, whose trial began last Thursday, should be put to death.

Absolutely disgusting.

"We will invite him again because the religion of Islam is one of tolerance. We will ask him if he has changed his mind. If so we will forgive him," the judge told the BBC on Monday.

I'd laugh about that if there wasn't a mans life at stake. If this man does indeed get executed I hope the west will draw their conclusions and cut all financial aid to this backward country.

I'm pretty sure even Afghanistan tolerates christians too IF they weren't muslims previously. Apostacy is punishable by death in the quran.

I must say that my opinion regarding islam has changed for the worse during the last few months.

God damn glad we freed them and let them govern themselves ! :P

Yeah damn, we really screwed that one up. They'd be so much better now if the Talaban were in power.

It doesn't actually say he'll be executed though does it? The judge said his mental state would be taken into account, which is probably the exit he'll get.

Personally, if he's that stupid to hold on to Christianity, or any religon at that, even in the face of death, he deserves to be executed. It's not being valiant, or "holding onto what you believe in". It's just stupidity.

I looked at the first post and was momentarily quite astounded!

Please note, therefore, that this is not the same Abdul Rahman who is currently rather busy judging a former President of Iraq.

Oh dear. in the meantime, several thousands of innocent civilians around the world have died.

Anyone want to start a thread about them ?

Its one man, who has survived. I dont see why the media has to focus on him.
