Ok this started in Iran Issues but went off topic so I'm moving it here.

Ok here is proof that stupidity is exponential

However, IQ is a widely disputed measure of intelligence. Especially since it is heavily biased on the language of the subject.

Proof (on your terms) that stupidity isn't exponential. Germany has a much higher population than france, but also a higher average IQ. By your logic it should be lower.

Well bulgaria is a 3rd world country.... i did say wealth factored in as well.   

Make a fair comparison.  Two modern countries with comparable wealth distribution, the one with the higher population will have more dumbasses.

Case in Point....

America 400 million pop IQ 100

Germany 80 million pop  IQ  109.3

there you go.

Where is your American population estimate from, this says it isnt even 300 Million

Hmm a couple years ago it was at 360 mill definately.. and got close to 400... i cant believe we lost 100 million people. Strange Indeed.

Also not a fair comparison... their populations make up less than 1% of the US or german population..... definately not a proper sample size.  A few dumbasses could really throw off the numbers.  Sorta like getting a Zero for a test score in college... it will really kill your average because you dont have many tests to help the average out.   There will be deviations and unfair comparisons but the chart here http://members.shaw.ca/delajara/IQtable.html shows that intelligence is rare and therefore stupid people exponentially outnumber intelligent ones.  Best way to look at it is by global population.  Numbers will be skewed in countries by migratory patterns, economics, and sampling sizes.

However good comparisons like Germany vs America can be made. But Global Comparisons are best.

The only thing is your graph is based on probability where as the second graph is more grounded in real world statistics.

I don't see how this shows that it is exponential? A difference of 9 degrees of IQ while having a different of 6x the population, you would think if it was exponential we'd see a much larger difference? Yet we don't, pointing to the fact that it is more linear than exponential.

We are NOT talking about degree of stupidity (number of IQ points). Thats irrelevant.   Just the number of dummies. (people who scored less than germans)

100 is dumber than 109.

US has 6 times the population and the majority of them are dumber than the German population.  Plain and simple that proves it right there.  Exponential Stupid.

However if you wanna talk IQ points and degree of stupidity.... read below

For the US to have an average of 100 that means alot of people scored around 100 HOWEVER since the population is so large its hard to move the average once it is set with so many numbers and therefore even if people scored much lower (which is perfectly reasonable to assume since lower than 100 IQ scores are common and higher than 100 scores become more rare) it wouldnt move the average that much at all.  In order for Germans to have an average of 109 with a smaller population its very likely that many scored OVER 109 to bring the average up from the more common 100, becuz with a smaller population the lower scores hurt you much more easily.  This leads one to believe that German had much fewer scores below 100 (which the US most likely had).... due to Germany having a smaller population and having a higher score.  Their score is more sensitive to fluctuation due to having a smaller sample size.

9 point difference in a national average is enormous when you think about what it takes to move an average once it gets anchored by tons of samples.

Sorry buddy but  mo' population = mo' stupid  (exponentially)

Bulgary is joining EU next year. It's not that bad there, just most people have Lada cars instead of Chryslers. Do you Americans always have to express your knowledge of the outer world?

Remmeber that average income is far from the only measure of development. For a start, if Bulgaria's economy is less dependant on foreign trade than the US, the values of the income become more arbitrary (it doesn't matter how much 'money' a hermetically sealed country has, as the economy is 100% internal). Second, if goods are cheaper in Bulgaria, then QoL may be affected less. Thirdly, as Caid (I think) points out, the cost of slightly lower quality goods is significantly lower than the value to the user - second hand cars that would sell for a hundred pounds in the UK are not significantly worse on a practical level than new cars selling for many thousands: The someone with an old

Do you really think IQ is a good estimate of intellectuality? I think people should concentrate on really interesting and fun problems.
