I installed Emperor a few weeks ago, patched it to 1.09 and it worked great (Geforce 4 Ti 4600). Now I updated to a Geforce 6600GT and the game crashes after the EA and Westwood logos... Any help?

Hm, thought about it, too but i dislike the idea to install old drivers for ONE game...

And if I remember correctly it worked with these drivers bevor...I just changed the card, not the driver

try disabling any anisotrophic filtering and antialiasing in your graphics card settings in Windows.  Especially dont use 2xQ which can cause weird problems with some games.

???

What version of Nvidia drivers are you using? If it was an old one (to support the 4600) then the 6600 GT may not be properly recognised.

If it was a recent driver (and thus supports the 6600) then as Gunwounds said look at disabling functions that the 6600 is now trying to use that the 4600 didnt, or alternatively try the very latest drivers...but be prepared to revert to your existing drivers!

Have you reinstalled the drivers ? Just reinstall with the new ones that you are using now.

By the way I use the same type card as you, 6600GT. Works perfectly. I will get you driver versions when I can.

hrmmm  you say it  shows you the ea/ww intros then quits?

try this  find a file called    emperor.dat  delete it  then reinstall the game and re patch etc....  should be ok

drivers?  61.76 works fine for emp  ....but 71.89 if u like new games too :P

theres a thread in support about newer forceware drivers than 61.76 that causes problems in some cases... unfortunately i cannot  complete it anymore as iv also moved on from my old leadtek card

I uninstalled and installed it again and now it works (with newest forceware drivers). Still one question: How can I get higher resolutions than 1024x768?

Change the values in this attached file to whatever resolution you want, but beware, wrong resolutions may screw up your monitor, mean that you need to restart your computer, or that buttons are clickable like they should be (you click on one edge of a button, and aanother bordering button gets clicked).

If you understand that, then go ahead and download the file and put in your desired resolution.

Remove the extension ".txt" from the file first, then right click and choose edit, then save, then double click

Contents of the file, for anyone viewing after O Great Gob has had his evil way with the attachments:-

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWestwoodEmperorOptionsGraphics]
"ScreenWidth"="1024"
"ScreenHeight"="768"

Thanks!!! Emperor looks great in 1280 x 1024.

it looks even better on a 20" lcd-screen with 1600x1200  :)
