Counter Strike Source

game sucks... - if you are used to cs since the very beginning in 1999

besides there were too much newbies which never played hl / cs before hl2 and whine all about you (in this case me and my mates) being cheaters... of course the whole cs scene is full of cheaters. but hey, if you are new to a game and face some people who play fps since over 10years and cs since the beginning in '99... what do you expect?

anyway... you won't have any trouble finding some company for your killing sprees. unlike in emperor there are many people out there who play cs:s, so enjoy the game  ;D

That would be Counter Strike, not source.  Yes VeK I do know that there are loads, and no the game does not suck.  You just have to know which servers to visit.  I love this game, it's so good!

it has nothing to do with servers. the whole game sucks: the movement, the weapon-behaviour, the sounds, the "u can't shoot thru anything in your way anymore", the many bugs it features, the important (!) clanwar/tournament maps that are still missing (but instead there they keep going to adopt the crappy maps)...

best evidence that I'm right: no professional gaming tournament/league has changed to cs:source because it's not suitable for any kind of competitions and professional tournament purposes with prize money up to 50.000$.

it might be a good game for you or any average fun gamer, but it's the worst bullshit for every serious league or professional gamer valve could ever produce after the normal counter-strike  :(

they just wanted to make the game as newbie-friendly as possible and make it look god. most people were afraid of this because counter-strike has developed worse from every version since the early betas (since beta 5.2 the game slowly began to get worse with every update)... but still there was hope that cs:source might be a great game - but it turned out to be even more unsuitable to the esports scene.

I don't want to argue or anything, you might still like the game, that's okay. I just wanted to make clear why a lot of the old/skilled players think this game sucks

You forget that Valve never actually made Counter Strike.  It was created by gamers, a mod for Half Life that gained such popularity that Valve decided to incorporate it.  That is what Valve is good at, the moderating scene.  Has Blizzard or ID ever had as much success with mods as Valve have had with HL (and HL2 for that matter)?

You are right, CS will never be a professional game, but that is fine with me.  I prefer a game where I am not going up against people who are getting paid, or are wanting to get to the point where they will be gettign paid.  I like to just jump in and out of games easily, have a few rounds or a few levels and then go back to what ever I was doing before hand, if I wanted to be a professional gamer I would drop out of Uni and devote my every hour to gaming.

Frankly, CS is fun and many people enjoy it, I enjoy it and the people I play with enjoy it.  I don't find anything wrong with the weapon-behaviour, the movement or anything like that! Is it not 'real' enough for you?

yes I know that they didn't develop the "real" counter-strike from the beginning. that's why it was such a great game back then before valve took it for their purposes.

when I talk about id or blizzard I don't compare the games or their success but their company policy or whatever you like to call it. I mean: they are also making good money but they take more care about what the community says or wants. they give great support (some exceptions excluded) and make most of the community happy with what they do instead of pissing them off.

it's okay that people like you e.g. want a game just for fun and the game might be great then. problem is: a lot of people play counter-strike (1.6 and earlier versions) in a competitive way (wether for money, honour or what they sense as being fun...) and so did I. I never had ambitions to earn money with it but we were on lan-parties for fun and to win the first place (or at least one amongst the top 3 places) and we played in a cs league regularly and it was fun (though competition - but for nothing more than a better league ranking and some new experiences or new friendships with the team we played against). still we all had ambitions to give our best and win the matches. and so did many other people all over the world. and still do.

and this is not possible with cs:source - there are no leagues or competitions, because the game has too many... let's call them "bad features" which makes it just unsuitable to play it the same way we all used to play 1.6 (and the earlier versions).

if there had never been a counter-strike game before cs:source it wouldn't matter. nobody would care. some would like the game, others would not. but there wouldn't be so many worried people who had hope that cs:source was going to be an updated and far better version of the game they love so much.

you can compare it to this: everyone is happy about their tv... but it's time for something new. so the only manufacturer for tvs decides to build a new version of that popular electronic device everybody loves so much. they design a fantastic tv which looks really awesome (like some kick-ass samsung or lg lcd or plasma tv) - but: the picture is black/white only.

what do you think how people would feel about this?

and that's exactly what happened to counter-strike. they gave it an awesome look and did a lot of stufff like this but they changed the important stuff: the gameplay - it is totally different and isn't fun anymore. I was good at cs:source when I tried it (of course, I guess I'm a very successful gamer in whatever fps I get into my hands) but it was so different. and I got killed sometimes by total noobs just because the weapons didn't act like they used to. or because I couldn't kill the enemy while performing some crazy stuff or shooting him thru the big stones on aztec after spotting him for one millisecond (I'm aztec king and I know every corner and have perfect timing, you can't imagine how pissed off I got when I experienced the new aztec in cs:source). so I was still a good player but I had to play in a total different way. like it was a completely different fps. and that just sucks. and I know many people who feel the same way.

If I still had a pc that was any good for both games I could show you what I mean by playing the same map 1on1 against you. first in cs:source and then in cs 1.6 - you would definitely experience the difference in MY gameplay and the way I would frag you.

CS 1.6=its free bugs...great game...and on some servers there are plenty of hackers

CS SOURCE=A remake of CS1.6...It has some great tweaks...not too many hackers...Its a must buy,if u like CS CZ

BTW i have cs 1.6,source and cs cz.

I play CZ, but to play online I need 1.6 too... so I have both.

I heard from a friend that Source isn't too good, since shooting has become more random, and much less skill is required. Anyway, I wouldn't enjoy Source on my computer. The HL2 demo didn't like me a lot.

If you have been a fan of CS since the very beginning, CS Source should be a welcome update. I played CS since the very beginning, and I grew tired of it over time, since not much changed. However, I remember being mad at the 1.6 update, actually to the point of ditching the game. It was too different, I thought. I was a king in 1.5, but I had to learn some things all over again in 1.6.

CS Source should make me just as mad, as things were changed even more, but hey, they weren't! :O

Everything seemed more like the way I liked it. I actually sat down and rocked. It just felt right. This is CS, I thought. And I played it a lot. Of course it's different from 1.6, and every 1.6 player is mad. I know that. But for me who skipped 1.6, it's really great.

I haven't played any CS for about eight months at least now, and I'm probably rusty, but I'd gladly pick it up again.

I'm a hard core cs gamer, I play 1.6 24/7 dust2 with AWP about two hours every day give or take

I started playing 1.5 two years ago on my 555 mhz 16 meg tri star video card, suffice to say, i couldn't run 1.6 till around last year.

Each game has it's own strengths and weaknessess,I have never played source, and I really don't want to after what every has said..

Just give me a FN P90, some Kevlar, and a couple flashbangs and I'm good to go.
