Do any of you guys go to chat sometimes?

What are your experiences?

This evening i am going off to meet somebody from chat. It feels kinda strange though...

Most chatters are fake, on Dutch channels that is. Fake or to lame / desperate to do someting usefull. Although in my experianse if you know someone for a while and can chat about a common topic together you can filter the lame from the "real" chatters in your list. At that stage meeting with someone should be realatively safe if you ask me. Although keep in mind why you are meeting with the persone when you set out to meet her / him.

Did you ever meet somebody in real life?

Yes, a bunch of times.  The first time was a year ago last september where I met Vangaurd.  The second time was about a year ago where I met a group of people from the spacecast forum.  This past december I met another person from the spacecast forum (who had moved to ottawa 'cause he and a woman from the spacecast forum had met a few years ago and fallen in love with each other).  This January I met yet another person from the spacecast forum, and also Vangaurd again.

If so, how was that?

Weird the first time.  The key is to keep the meeting in a public place.  I'd chatted with these people for years before the actual meeting, but still you never know what was going to happend.  If you want it might be a good idea to have someone make an exit call for you a little while in so you ahve an excuse to get out if you want.  Most of the people I have met have been very nice and I have had dinner with a few of them several times.

Yes I chat, in the past using ICQ. Now only MSN Messenger.

Tried it a couple of times but I realy don't like to cam. Especially not being the one that is watched.

Well... no... Not even with my girlfriend.

No. I always first met someone in real life before I got him/her on MSN OR I never met the person in real life before and only know him/her from MSN.

I used to go into chat rooms on occasion, not anymore though. I never did cyber or cam for any reason. And yeah, I met one of my close friends online, and we met when she came here. Also, I'm going to meet another girl that I've become close with over online (now phone too) relatively soon. It's weird the initial few moments, but I got along. That or I tried to cut myself in the corner. Ssh.

I sometimes use my sister's webcam if it's available, but stay away from erotic chat.

Never met someone in real life ( except those I knew from before ), but I will soon.

Not outside of RPGing.  If one of my characters has to have a sex scene then yes.

Nope, I think one forumer here even lives less than 20 minutes from me.
