You ever have one of those things....

One of those things you need to do and keep trying to do but, for some reason or another, always ends up getting screwed?

I've been trying to get my furniture etc. from my burned down apartmet building for a month and a half.

First, my ex-roommates insurance moves my stuff to there place.  Roommates don't bother to tell me.

Two days later I finally get ahold of a van, go to that old apartment, find my stuff is gone, and it takes me 4 hours to find out what happened to it.

Next day I have to travel back home so they are suppsoed to call me when I get back to Ottawa.

They don't.

Week after they are supposed to call me I finally get ahold of them.

"Uh, we didn't know we were supposed to call you, but I'llg et my dads truck and trailer to mvoe your stuff."

Week later, ehard nothing.  Call them back, get the other ex-roommate:

"Well, Gregg couldn't get his dads trucka nd trailer, but next tuesday we can use my dads station wagon."

Week later, day we are supposed to move the stuff, I hear nothing from them.  Call them again.

"Uh, I was gonna call you, we can't use the station wagon anymore my dad had a meeting."

Couple days later a friend from hoem says he's coming up o visit, and we can move the stuff with his vehicle.

Today was supposed to be the move.  Get a message form him yesterday:

"I can't come up now.  I got a job remodeling a bathroom."

Spend the day getting in contact with a great aunt and uncle I haven't seen in a few years, who say they can help me out, but only at about 5 am.  I say great, thanks, I'll call you back later tonight.  I don't get out of class until after they usually go to bed so I am unable to call them.

Get up at 4:30 am today after about two hours of sleep.  6:30 I call them:

"Oh, you said you were gonna call us.  Maybe we can do it later today or tommorow.  I'll call later."

So frustrating.  It's just not meant to be.

Well, I ended up getting to move my stuff afterall.

But Wll's Law came into effect.

Anytime anything good happens, something disproportionatly bad ahs to happen.

Seems the insurance company claims to have lost half my stuff.  Including, but not limited too:

My bed (so I'm still sleeping on the floor)

My air mattress (so I'm still sleeping on the floor)

My VCR

$162 in rolled coins (more than my furniture cost)

My desk chair

Life is grand.

Is the insurance company going to offer compensation?

Is the insurance company going to offer compensation?

They're supposed to locate the missing stuff once I produce a list, but if they don't they should be compensating for it.

Also missing:  My printer.

I did, however, find a high heeled shoe and a moccasin.

Ended up sleeping thorugh my alarm (and two classes) after I finished the move, was so tired.  Beens leeping poorly, and I guess the total lack of sleep followed by all the lifting and carrying knocked me out.

To top this day off, I applied to OSAP and found I missed the deadline by a week.

I had been told there was no deadline so after I lost my job I had decided to take care of other stuff before applying.

Guess Iw as told long....

After an hour of number crunching I managed to find enough money that I shouldn't end up homeless and starving, but that loan would have been a nice little cushoin.

OSAP?

Long, written letters of complaint (especially with servere, disappointed but nonthreatening tone) can work wonders, though - and it's probably worth it if you haven't already.
