Michael Moore and his Egomania

Michael Moore basically has demanded to the acadamy award commitee that his latest film ferenheit 911 should be switched from best documentary section, to best picture.

is it just me? or is michael moore acting like a sell-out?

One of the greatest directors of our time, Clint Eastwood (unforgiven, on the top five of my favorite movies ofa ll time, and mystic river, another great,) and a few other hollywood big wigs are actually planning a walkout of michael moore wins the award. This and so much criticism shows me that my feelings are right.

I have had many friends, friends who loved michael moore. People who really respected him and admired his films, who because of his latest actions have completely lost respect for him.

This is how I feel too. I have seen three of his films. Like Roger and Me, and Bowling for Columbine, and they are all great. Sometimes I disagree, but he did a wonderful job. ferenheit 911 wasent that good though, and people raved over it because it was completely partisan, and politically driven. It fed the emotional flames of liberals all over. This isnt necissarily bad either, but what he is doing now is just horrible. there is no excuse and it shows he is a hack.

whatd o you guys think?

It's not eligible for Best Documentary since it was released on DVD and shown on TV prioir to the end of the year, in order to attempt to influence the election (a lot of good that seems to have done.)

You are confused.  A film can be released on DVD before the end of the year and still be elegible for Oscar contention.

However, a film cannot be shown on TV or DVD before it is released in theaters. Then it is enelegible.

Not that is matters.  The Oscars are a joke.  Not half the joke the Golden Globes are, but a joke nonetheless.

Not as much as a joke as the EMMA awards in the UK... Ethnic Minority Music Awards. A white guy won it last year. :-

Ha!  A fistfight broke out at our Hip Hop Awards...I think that's what it was called anyhow.

Moore's latest creation, the topic of this is fun to watch in a room with NeoCons and UltraLiberals.

heh, I couldnt agree with you more mahdi about the oscars being a joke.

And yeah I guess you answerd what I was going to say to dukeleto mahdi. Not only this though but it is still shot in a documentary format, for it being a hard documentary I have doubts, as it doesnt answer the questions it asks. That isnt apart of this discussion though.

also I totally agree with you ordos. Watching freaks from both extremes argue about this stuff is pretty hilarious, and it verges on the irrational to hear the people arguing about the topic.

And if you want to see a real laugh mahdi, watch the Independant Spirit Awards. Some of those famous actors you see at the oscars and golden globes who dressed up in ten thosuand dollar dresses and suits will be decked out in drab and fru fru outfits, attempting to "break conventions". Yuppy bastards.lol me and robbie laughed our butts off to see how shallow and two-faced some of those hollywood types can be.
