We are NOT a democracy, and because of this, and because our government was founded to stay a republic, the electoral college is necissary.

Your government was not founded to stay the same forever:

"...whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

The college keeps the government from growing too beurocratic, too muddled with the millions of voices of the people. It is important to keep us what we are as america.

HOW? Seriously, HOW? What exactly does the college do other than electing a president by following a certain formula? You could replace the electors with points on a computer and achieve the same result. Hell, for all practical purposes, the electors ARE points on a computer.

If People become destructive them, who guarantees that these forces will be organized? Either you call for a divine intervention or military dictatorship...

I think it's disturbing that apparently the most staunch Bush supporters all own assault rifles and shit.

Seeing as how a large part of the republican platform is "Pro-Gun"  ... having staunch Bush supporters who are also gun enthusiasts  is logical and even expected.
