Hi All,

What is your opinion of Rome TW?

I've played it last evening. Unfortunatly it was the German version i did not understand everything. It looks a nice and difficult game though...

I conquered one little city, which was not to difficult. Then i builded some stuff in the city. After that i was rather lost what to do (as before everything i had to do, was told to me by Victory).

How does it work online with other people?

To me it seems like it could last for ages?

How do you get men online and money?

I dunno if it works the same as medieval total war, but i guess it does.

in that case you can only play battles online. like configure your army and well... fight.. it's pretty fun. But you can't play the turn based part online methinks.

I love it, about 13hours in, I have like 9 cities including rhodes and sparta. I would be further but I lost my disc 1 so it won't let me play  >:(

what faction are you playing as? I'm the julii (the brutii pissing off the greeks is bad and the scripii pissing off the cathaginians is bad, but the gauls are pansies ;-) )

Seeing few units (flame pigs etc) I looked on it with suspicion, but it seems to be good. However demo went very slowly on my PC, so I have to wait a while.

Beaten it. I took Rome, and conquered fifty territories. I control all of Italy, Sicily, Corsica and Sardinia, Britannia, Ireland, Spain, Gaul (France), Germania, territories west of Germania, half of Greece including Athens, Sparta, Corinth and Thessalonica. I played as the Julii, ended up with about 50 family members (generals/governors) a steady income of 25000 denarii per turn, and a whole crapload of armies. All of this by 141 BC.

I feel proud.

is there a downloadable demo for it? if so where ?  I am sceptical about buying this game, even though i have heard that it is very fun (from my several history buff friends).  I'm just not sure i want to spend $50 on it if its not quality, i saw the graphics and my true first impression was wtf is the point in decreasing the graphic quality just so you can have more units (at least that was what it appeared to be like).

I am on my second campaign as the Greeks, (first playing as scipii) So far I have beaten back the scipii of Sicilly, Pushed the Brutii out of greece, and captured a Julii settlement. And conquered jerusalem. I love this game and am addicted to online battles, anyone want a game?

I played Medieval: TW and loved it, so I'm thinking of getting Rome: TW as well. Can somebody tell me how it's different from Medieval, aside from the gorgeous graphics? Thanks.

Well instead of movement based on provinces, it is based on movement points. Region control is decided by the settlement (you can move through a province without waging war). To move across water you need to load armies onto ships and sail to the destination. Diplomacy is improved, more like Civ 3. There are other minor differences but it is largely the same.
