And they "officially" started the construction of the new World Trade Center buildings.

Article about cornerstone

It will be the tallest building in the world.

Just shows that if crazy people blow up buildings in the Western world, they will just be rebuilt bigger and better. So there efforts are pretty much pointless. Although maybe some AA guns on the roof would help protect our buildings.

Well at least there not building all small buildings underground or anything.

Well the terrorists only destroyed 2 buildings and damaged one, while the U.S. invades 2 countries. I think the terrorists are losing, even if they fly some planes into a couple buildings. ::)

But enough for the PRP stuff.

Yes, it'll be 1776 feet tall, signifying of course the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.  I'm not sure if this includes the ligning rods and such.

Although, the CN Tower still holds as the tallest freestanding structure at an impressive 553m, or  1815 feet tall.  But don't worry, apparently the ride up is free, under the condition you visit Toronto.  I guess if you're not in Toronto, they don't let you on the elevator or something...  ;)

I thought there were troubles about the design for the building.  A conflict between architechts or something?

Shy:  Yes.  It says in the article it was to "evoke" the statue.

I admire what it stands for, but there's something about the building that I don't like, I just can't quite place my finger on it.

Could it be that it seems to me that it will be quite innefficient compared to the old twin towers?

I mean it will look pretty, but waste a lot of money/space.

Free ride up the CN tower? I had to pay when I went about 5 years ago. It was worth it.

Yes that just about sums it up, but what are they going to do with it, will it fulfill the same purpose as the twin towers?

Actually more than two buildings of the WTC were lost.  Building seven comes to mind as being completely destroyed.  Most of the others were pretty damaged, not sure if any others were lost.  And it's not the WTC, it's the "Freedom Tower"  *coughs* Propagandist *coughs* Political bull *coughs*

ya freedom tower sounds pretty stupid.

WTC actually stood for something, like the trade and stuff that occurs within the building.

Freedom tower produces freedom? Show me.

lol I love how canadian bacon talks about the CN tower.

It is almost like the canadians are so self conscious that they have an almost freudian penis-envy. I mean sheesh! it has a huge lightening rod on the top! My friend said it would be like putting a toothpick in your penis and saying it was 9 inches.lol I know that is vulger, but it was pretty funny.

sheesh you canadians. ;) hehe
