Yep, just make sure you dont go with a noname/integrated motherboard. And try and stay away from integrated graphics as well if you're planning on doing much gaming with current titles.

With all the new technologies coming out, I'd wait a few weeks if I were you. There's some really good progress with the new products that are about to hit the market. Even if you do not want the new products, as soon as they hit the market, it should decrease the price of the old products fast.

Intels latest chipset supports 9 new processors.

If gaming isn't the most important thing, this new Asus P4R800V may be a good choice if you'd go for an Intel processor.

AMD's latest chipset

14 AMD64 motherboards tested.

Nvidia introduces dual video cards (like the good old Voodoo days).

The above are just a few examples of what's coming. My advise is not to spend your hard earned bucks just yet :)

It would also be good to wait in the video card department....

Nvidia's new series is going to be released soon...I am looking to upgrade my system and need a new video card. So I am going to get the new card.

You willing to pay the $700 (CDN) for a video card? You're wallet must hurt your ass when you sit down :P lol.

As soon as I can find a good motherboard that has two x16 PCI Express slots, I'm gonna buy two :)

If only I knew how to set all that up I would do the same....that would be amazing!

Think the article which the Doc linked to earlier provides a good insight. . :)

Yes, I've seen the alienware comp. But what they are doing is different from what Nvidia is doing. Alienware uses a special driver to get their solution working. Nvidia uses a "bridge" for their cards. On the new cards they've build, it shows they had this in mind for a time now. Just look at the page Gryphon linked last. It'll be more clear :)

And Sard, if you ever need help putting stuff together, let me know and I'll gladly help you :)

I thought one card rendered even lines, and the other card rendered odd lines... not top and bottom?

That was in the days of the Voodoo cards. With the new cards, one card draws the top (60% - 70%) and the other draws the bottom half. It then is merged together. This is the way it's done with the Alienware setup. With Nvidia's setup, it's going to be load balancing. Although the card that draws the top half, may indeed draw more then 50%. This is due to the fact that the bottom half generally has more specifics to draw (just think of FarCry and the vegitation there).
