You can read about him on this site:

http://www.johntitor.com/

All in all, I found it to be pretty interesting. Though, I don't really believe that we have time machines within the next 30 years - I mean, he compared the invention of the jet engine... that's different. It's like saying "it's impossible to get to Mars" and comparing it to "it's impossible to build a time machine".

Anyways, the only way of knowing wheter this is true or not, we will know this year. He says that the US Presidential elections will be the first "step", after this there will be an apparent civil war (something about the US becoming a Federal Empire that compromises civil rights etc) and finally to the, what I would call Judgement Day, in 2015, when Russia drops nukes on major cities in the US, Europe and China. Russia is countered too.

Now, playing the fool, what is the chance of a civil war the next 8-12 months in the US?

Oh, THAT guy!!!

Heavens... that's the biggest hoax around the net. I was surprised that anyone actually fell for this... but it may be that it was only obvious to computer geeks.

How do I know it's a hoax? Because I'm in computer hardware and software and have done chip level programming and CAN read a schematics. His original story was that Uinux was going to crash when its date program ran out and he was going back to get the old computer so they'd have working Linux in the future.

(Yes, yes...those of you who work with Unix can quit laughing now. He really DID say that.)

After DOS and Windows and all the computers failed to "melt down" with the Y2K scare, he changed his tactics.

...and his "science"... oy. Talk about BAD understanding of basic science.

Phew. I wonder if the person who put up this website was ol' John himself, trying to make his legend live.

another post

Herein lies the problem with his WHOLE STORY... The guy CAN NEVER GET back to his own reality/"worldline" or whatever...

WHY would ANYBODY send him if they knew he could NEVER return? To what end would they do this?

I his own words, "My employers would never come looking for me to their perspective I am only gone a second"...

Then, in an attempt to gain psychological sympathy, he runs us through the inability to get back to his own worldline.

He can't have it both ways... Either, the whole "infinite worldline" deal is B.S. OR he NEVER RETURNS to his employers with the computer they so desperately need.

That "second" he is away and then reappears NEVER happens according to his, own theories...

PEACE...

here's another.. read it carefully... and i think this really debunks time travel

AFAIK that is impossible and not true, when you would travel you would travel in different place of time in present continuum because every one of us is "out of phase" from other pople for 1/trillion of picosecond or something like that because when we travel with airplane time on earth was slower than on airplane (measured in experiment with atomic clock).

But airplane did not disappear into another continuum or anything like that (which could show there are no paralles universes or continuums)... That could mean his story is hoax.

this post is stating that anyone who has ever been on an airplane is actually

But I never said I believed him. I myself am very skeptical about why Russia would have any reason of nuking the US. Let's say the US becomes a grim dictatorship - opposing all kinds of human rights - it still doesn't make sence why Russia would send of nukes to kill millions upon millions of innocent people. It isn't their country. Russia has nothing to fear until the US threatens them.

On the other hand, what Russia could do, is to nuke Chechnya in a situation where the US is in chaos (i.e. civil war, etc) or something like that.

China also has nukes. It would be ultimate stupidity to nuke the US, China and Europe and think you can get away with it. Every major city will be hit according to him - well, are there enough bombs for them all?

Then another thing I thought about. If this isn't his worldline, what stops him from telling us future events? I'm not an expert on this area, but I'm sure that less people will die if we change this line rather than to let WW3 happen (where, according to him, 3 billion people will die).

Religion is also a problem. He mentions that there are infinite number of universes. But he also mentions that if we do something in this universe that is good, there will always be a universe which "you" do the opposite (bad). And he said that he believed in God too. Then how does God judge who's good and who's evil if we did just as much evil as good in this very creation (all worldlines)?

As I said on another forum about these kind of discussions: "It's fiction until it's prooven fact".

well its already been proven as a fact that it is a hoax so anything he said is just pure speculation ... he is no different from our fake psychics we have today.... only difference is he did some reading up on physics and technology.

Did anyone hear of the story of the guy who got big on the Stock Market and claimed to be a time traveller, is this the same guy?

There has been more theories of who this Titor is. Somebody mentioned he was a form of "ad" to attract people to movies, games or books that has to do with time travel. They did the same with the first Blair Witch Project movie, claiming it to be true. The movie itself had one of the lowest budgets ever and yet was one (or the only) of the most profit-making movies of all time.

Another theory is that Titor is some kind of scientist who's spending his time on the internet. Note how he reflects his own views on different timelines (he call them worldlines), and how he seems to be better than the average person about theories in time travel and so on.

Let's ask TMA who he was talking about. TMA: who did you talk to? Me or Gunwounds?

Um, you know the easiest and simplist way to tell it's a hoax?Ā  It was originally printed in the Weekly World News.Ā  Yahoo reprints Weekly World News articles as a joke, and some fool from another newspaper didn't see the disclaimor saying it was from the weekly news and was a joke.Ā  He was dumb enough to think it was real, reprinted it citing yahoo as the source, and everyone else got it from him.

hehe, you know I was talking to you gunwounds, your the only person I make it my business to discredit when it comes to stuff likethis. Also, if you think that by default sci fi fans would enjoy john Titor or whoever the guy is, then you are nuts and are no true sci fi fan, which is a shame. hehe

and cyborg, you know I wasent talking to you, I think you are cool. I was just pointing out that gunwounds disturbingly posted many times, took up a lot of space and actually reposted a statement he made earlier to reaffirm it, either he has a problem with john titor, or he is worried about it, either way it is weird.lol

No.

Okay.

Yahoo reprints Weekly World News articles as a joke, and some fool from another newspaper didn't see the disclaimor saying it was from the weekly news and was a joke.

Right...

He was dumb enough to think it was real, reprinted it citing yahoo as the source, and everyone else got it from him.

Sure, whatever...

Just kidding.

Weekly World News? Hmm... is that some kind of news magazine where they write down everything that has to do with aliens, UFO's, alien-babies, time travel? I think we had something similar like that here, but it was called "En Ding Ding V

I have more thoughts about Titor. He said there was going to be a nuclear war. Well, my question is, how did the United States manage to get everything together so fast (by 2020 there were apparently law and order again). I mean, wouldn't people just get together in smaller societies and start over? Seems very wierd...
